I like the Samsung Bar Plus because its metal housing dissipates heat well and its flash controller offers very good write performance (with 36MB/s sequential write and 13MB/s random writes). Even better would be a flash drive that uses an SSD class controller and flash.
It's been many years since I bought my Sandisk Extreme USB 3.0 SDCZ80 devices (with 200MB/s sequential write and 12MB/s random writes) and I don't know what the current version is called (or even if there are any). Their plastic bodies are cool to the touch but I wonder if the chips inside are running hot.
Performance numbers are for the 64GB capacity
P.S.: If size and price are not a constraint, Sandisk and Samsung both sell so-called Portable SSDs in capacities of 500G and higher

I just got Samsung Bar Plus 128GB and it does 62MB/s sequential writes and 18MB/s random writes
Ouch, more like Samsung Bar Minus. Too bad Samsung has gotten into the slow flash drive game like everyone else. Sandisk was the king of low-end, "how low can we go" write speeds in the past (while still carving out a high end niche).
