You used to be able to plug the modem in and just try to use it and it would direct you to a Comcast login page to activate the modem and that worked fine but now it just tells you to use the app which doesn't work. You also used to be able to go to a specific Comcast url that would activate your modem and now that as well forces you to use their app.
Does anyone know how to *deactivate* a modem on Comcast (so whoever buys the CM1000 open box later doesn't have a problem)? TIA
Add 5qt oil and a filter. That's my goto filler. Laundry or dish soap is second..
I had this modem and gave it to my neighbor. I upgraded to 1Gb and had to get a new one. My neighbor is still using it with service in the 200 tier range. Comcast.
I would go with any spec Comcast claims to support and not the vendor. Comcast can provision the device with more restrictive settings than what it is capable of in the "interest of their network". I had a SB6141 back in the day that worked perfect for my 150 blast service. One day it stopped working. After digging around awhile I noticed they hardcoded the uplink port to only connect at a max of 100Mb instead of 1Gb which the physical port is capable of and was using prior to that. I resolved that by changing the other end to 100Mb and it started working again but now I was only getting 100Mb max obviously. A day or two later I got an email that I had to upgrade my CM because it was not compatible with my plan speed although it had been working at that plan speed for years.

I'm using it with Comcast without issue. I have 50 Mbps service.
I ran into that myself on a small scale. Moving from one house to another. There was lag in them closing one account vs opening the other and I could not activate my same CM right away. I thought I had everything worked out with them that I could unplug from one house in the morning and plugin the other in the afternoon. It did not go down that way as promised/planned at all..... Hindsight.. It would have been less hassle and time for me to just run to the store and buy a new modem..

You can ask them on the phone but they don't always do it right or will tell you it is deactivated when its really not (I gave my sister a modem and they told me on the phone they removed it but when she tried to use it they said it was still active on my account). I've gone into the comcast store twice with the modem in hand that I bought at a thrift store and had them remove from the old persons account because comcast said it was still active on the other persons account on the phone. They refused to remove it over the phone as I wasn't the account holder, but I guess since the store can see I have the modem in my hands that the old owner doesn't actually have it anymore they will remove it.

For my zip, this modem isn't listed as compatible.
