This is rated as the best all-around "standard speed 15MPH scooter" for under $500 for 2020. I researched every scooter available and watched almost every YouTube review for sub $500 scooters (I watched hundreds of videos!) and this was the model that was most consistently recommended as being the best value for the money which is why I bought it November 2020 and have used it almost every day since then. It has the battery in the base instead of the stem for better weight distribution, the high battery capacity give this scooter equal range to many $500-$800 models, it has features like cruise control that most cheaper scooters don't have, it has a digital readout showing your speed in 1/10th MPH increments, 4 bar battery meter, has a bright white headlight and red taillight for night riding which also blinks when braking, tires come pre-filled with Slime from the factory for good flat prevention since scooter tires/tubes are a huge pain to change, and has rear disc brake but it is pretty weak and needs a little adjustment ouf of the box to work well. The next step up would be about $800 for scooters that go 18MPH with only slightly better range but are usually a bit heavier, then $1200-$1400 for the scooters that go about 28MPH with nice wide tires and full suspension...and of course you can't forget the Rion Thrust for $8500 that goes 80MPH lol!
refer to him as OP, you neanderthal
pretty sure 99% of scooters wouldn't work if you're 500lbs lol

Well slickdeals, as per usual, I came here with no want to buy anything and left having impulse bought something that i totally didn't need
10/10 would do again
Also I was on the fence about this but what tipped me over the edge was seeing you can sell these on ebay for about $200 used. Worst case scenario I'll just sell this thing and be out $50 + ebay fees
The $800 Scooter if you don't mine, can give a reference, I'm really thinking about it, my new work is a 2 miles
Segway Ninebot MAX is $799 goes 18MPH, 35mi-40mi range instead of 18mi, 10" pneumatic tires instead of 8.5" like most scooters so it will have a slightly smoother ride, but it weighs 51 pounds vs 31.8 pounds. Definitely not worth paying 3x more for the Segway vs this GoTraxElite for $250.
I'm always worried that it will be stolen from outside the gym. I would ideally like to use to to go to the gym in summer, fall but hesitant because of horror stories I've heard of and locks that are easily broken.
You should NEVER leave this outside. You should always fold it and take it with you inside.
Never buy anything GOTRAX because the charger will short the whole scooter.
Without any facts or data to back up your statement, it has no validity. I own this scooter and it has worked fine for nearly a year using and charging it almost every day, and a few of my friends have other GoTrax models which have also worked fine for 1-2 years and I got this per their recommendations last year, so my data proves your statement to be incorrect...or we all just happen to be the luckiest people in the world to get the only GoTrax scooters that actually charge correctly?
Anyone know about removing the limiter on these? My initial reddit search says short of replacing the computer in it there's nothing you can do. One guy mentioned putting larger tires on it which I might give a shot
I did a lot of research on this before buying this model last year and there is no way to increase it's speed other than using larger diameter tires which isn't really possible since the forks and spash guards don't allow you to use a tire greater than 8.5" diameter...maybe 9" would barely fit but I've never seen a 9" tire that fits 8.5" rims.
Question in a different vein - is this with air tires? From what I understood from the Hover 1 and the M360, tires are near-impossible to replace and it's good, until you get a flat.
Is this one similar? it's the only thing stopping me from buying this.
This uses pneumatic tires, and since August 2020 the factory pre-fills them with Slime to stop most small punctures. I bought one in November 2020 and it works great. The Slime doesn't add much rotational mass like it does for 26" bicycle tires where the mass increase affects rotational acceleration significantly due to it's longer distance from the point of rotation, so acceleration speed and stopping distance doesn't change noticeably with small diameter 8.5" scooter tires.
I have a Gotrax GXL v2 that is 14 months old and has 900+ miles on it. No shorts yet lol. Where do you get your info from?????

Likely one of those people who had one friend or read about one person someplace that had a short and immediately thinks ALL Gotrax chargers are bad. It's these kinds of people that make manufacturer's lives a nightmare when they write reviews bashing their product because of something that is defective. No matter how great a product is, there are always going to be random issues especially in larger quantities.
Im in nyc if anyone wants mine they can have it at cost. It was one of those purchase now think later things. Dont really have the space for another scooter.

The Gotrax Facebook group is brutal to GoTrax. But this tends to be true for almost anything. More apt to complain than praise. I had an issue with my XR Ultra, and within 10 days had a new controller in my hands. Typical? No idea. But impressive considering all those who said they could not get customer support to respond.
I ordered mine a few days before this thread started. Still no words of shipping yet.
Wow, they are slow. Hopefully it still goes through. It looks like this may have been a price mistake as it didn't reflect any discount or look like it was on sale. Only when it made SD front page they changed the price to $299 on sale. I'm going to call Marcus and complain if they cancel on me. He can afford to give it to use for free.
Not shipping yet,so slow! I found some reviews about their slow shipping. You get your stuff two weeks later after you paid. First time and last time shopping here.
