It's not the 4K resolution that really makes a huge difference, it's the HDR and Dolby Vision that almost all 4K movies have, which is an absolute game changer, when done right. I love 3D, but the color and contrast offered by HDR is leagues better than what regular blu-rays can offer. SDR (Standard Dynamic Range) is what non-4K movies like your 3D ones, use, which only does 16.7 million colors. HDR can do 1.07 billion, and Dolby Vision can do 68.7 billion. You're not getting anywhere near the realistic colors and contrast levels with regular 3D blu-ray movies. There's just no contest. I guess if you just want the picture popping out, that's fine, but I'd prefer having the best looking image over just a little gimmick.
