i actually just got this in like 2 week ago for my main bedroom tv, but i paid $398 before shipping. I dont feel like writing short review, but i am open to questions.
one thing i wanted to get working was kodi builds, but couldnt get any to work properly. Ended up just running an hdmi to from my pc whenever i want to consume content outside of the typical streaming services.
This one in 65" was on sale at Target during BF 2020 for $230. Great TV for budget bedroom TV. Android is a bit slow, but nothing a cheap streaming stick can't fix.
Opinions on this Android version? We have a TCL, but it's the Roku one.
I have both the Roku and Android one and the Android is vastly superior. It's snappier and less bloat ware. The assistant is also a really good feature, and it's built into the remote. Roku is very clunky and crashes sometimes.

Thanks for the heads up. 55" is $650 so it's a bit of a price jump
Yep about 3+ months ago TCL raised the prices of their 2020 models by about $300. Now the 2021 models 6 series(646) & 5 Series (546) are being released for the same prices. So who the hell are going to be buying these 2020 models?
I don't have a TCL but I have a Hisense H8F with Google TV built in and after a while those things slow to a crawl. Lots of lag to just change the input on them. For now I would recommend against Google TV OS and get a model with Roku built in
This caught my eye because I am looking for a spare TV for my office. I have a problem paying this price considering all of the previous deals were substantially better, even though they were all around Black Friday last year. I think I will wait A little longer

My advice: give up on smart-TV apps and use a dedicated device for KODI. If you're a Netflix subscriber and the Google Store is still running their Chromecast w/ Google TV + Netflix credit promo, you'd effectively only be paying something like $10 for the most versatile streaming device on the market.

Prices got quite low, but there are supply chain issues and inflation is higher this year than it's been in awhile. Might do better on BF this year but don't think you will see the same prices as before.
