Most things take 18 to 20 minutes to get crispy. It's quicker to bake, except for the preheat time for the oven. The finished product for things like tater tots and french fries are typically worth the wait. Unfortunately, there isn't much space-savings with the lid compared to having a dedicated appliance.
Still a good thing to have and not bad at $50....they were $75.
Yes, it uses the same stainless steel liner (not the nonstick liner) and just sits on top. You don't use liquid with air frying though. I usually use the air fryer lid for completely different foods than in the IP, but I have made food in the IP then switched to air fryer lid to finish, such as melt cheese on spaghetti or crisp up ribs or chicken.
I use either the basket and take out and shake food periodically, or I use trivets that I can flip food on easier and skip the basket altogether.

I have the insignia pressure cooker and based on what instant pot recipes say for timings, the insignia always takes a lot more time and the buttons don't really match up well. We're waiting for an instant pot deal to pop up and then ditching the insignia. For example, for rice a recipe might say cook on high pressure for 5 minutes then quick release the steam for an instant pot, on my insignia it'll take 15 minutes plus the extended time it takes to build pressure.
