Thread Details
Here's the link for the weekly ad:
https://www.walgreens.c om/offers/...p/weeklyad
Since there aren't tons of posts in the weekly threads, what do you think of changing to a continuous running thread, like Target and Kroger. This would enable us to read overlapping weeks' deals easier.
Your opinions are valuable!
Things can stay as they are; or, things can change. If deals improve, if we do change, the weekly threads could return.
Discussions are useful. Walgreen's shopping is certainly not what it was a few years ago.

If there is a personalized Spend $10, get X rewards promo, what all is included/excluded to make the $10 threshold amongst
1. The price of the item (including any advrtised sale price but not any promo code discounts)
2. A Walgreens promo code discount available to anybody on a group of items or storewide
3. Bag fee
4. Tax
5. Mfr coupon
Seems like you cannot depend on what the receipt says about "estimated rewards" as to what is actually computed to get the award.
I know you can't redeem award towards such a purchase, so that isn't relevant here.
Thanks

We don't have the bag fee here yet but I believe it won't count towards the threashold. $10 before coupons and after tax. So if your total is 9.99 after tax (no coupons DQ or manu used), it won't work. DQs/manu don't hurt the threshold. Discount %s do, It lowers the value of them items by prorating.

Items subtotal: $12.24 ($11.99+$0.25 bag fee)
Promos and coupons: -$2.25 (SCHOOL20 20% off)
Sales Tax: $0.91
Mfr coupon: -$0.75
Total charge: $10.15
Not sure how the math was done for disqualification.
$11.99 - $2.25 = $9.74
$11.99 - $2.25 + $0.25 = $9.99
$11.99 - $2.25 - $0.75 = $8.99 (not this since 0.09 rewards actually given)
$11.99 - $2.25 - $0.75 + $0.25 = $9.24
$11.99 - $2.25 + $0.91 - $0.75 = $9.90
Are the only combination that bring it below $10.
Use of sales tax can happen only if Mfg coupon discounted AND bag fee not considered as above.

$11.99 - $2.25 = $9.74 eligible spend, .26 short

The main takeaway is before tax.
Thanks for the reply.
I returned the above and placed a new order (of course cannot use the coupon which is considered redeemed) but the additional item I placed to make it above $10 (which also had a coupon) was declared out of stock with no substitution. There is a substitute available but that could not be added to the partial order fulfilment at the store and canceling it makes the coupon for it as redeemed and so cannot be used for the substitution.
This is way too hard to save a few dollars unless that is an addiction.

I just go in off and on, look around and mostly leave. Our great manager is gone. Has everybody noticed how employees, even longtime ones, suddenly are no longer in their stores. You'd think the corporation would want good employees to stay.
All that I can say is: Good luck to everybody on their shopping expeditions! Let us know what you find.

Because I clearly told you "We don't have the bag fee here yet but I believe it won't count towards the threshhold. (MS)" So you shouldn't have included the bag fee. Wags isn't easy but if you read and pay attention to what people tell you, you're more likely to get your order right the first time you try.
But my frustration is not with understanding this calculation so I can order it correctly but the subsequent experience with the second order even knowing the formula.
The software is the worst I have seen of ANY major retail outlet. While all of them show occasional glitches, this software is functionally crippled and brain dead.
1. Stock condition is inaccurate which makes it hard to spend to a certain amount.
2. If something is out of stock, and you had used a manufacturer coupon for it or anything in that order, the coupons have been redeemed even for the out of stock item and none of them are available even if you cancel the entire order to later re-order. If you take the remaining, your coupon for out of stock item you didn't get is also redeemed!
3. Heck, if you clip a coupon to your saved offers and remove it from there, that coupon is gone forever even if you never used it. This is real crappy programming.
4. Since, they seem to have a simple rule for threshold meeting, they could compute the rewards accordingly in the cart before you purchase, in the order confirmation, or even in the receipt they print out when you pick up the order all of which overestimates for no good reason making you think you have met the threshold and then the gotcha when you actually see the credit or lack of. This is just crappy programming.
Sure, one could learn all of this twists and traps and work around the crappy software but it is just too much hard work unlike most other major retailers. YMMV.
