I have Serious doubts about an 18v trimmer being very useful... Anyone have first hand experience?

I own it and haven't had any problems with it. It's is very light and has enough power to do the job.

Thanks for the input. I have a 40v trimmer and it's fine for most things but still lacks power for thick stuff...

That's how I would describe this 18-volt trimmer.

Brickseek link (I think):

Also I would rather buy from HD but if you don't have any in stock in your area, Amazon sells this for 246 it looks like

I've been looking at this for a while, my corded blower drives me crazy and I just want a light-duty trimmer

Just a heads up on this one as I bought it and returned it. The trimmer is couple shaft, but only for storage. You can't use the Makita attachments with it. The trimmer is very light and has a great run time with the automatic mode. So quiet too. My front yard is about 3800 Sq ft and I was able to edge and trim plus hit the side yard on one battery. The blower is amazingly light and powerful. Run time is about 15 minutes on high and the cruise control is great coming from a gas blower. Something that may seem small, but is huge is the sound of the blower. Lots of battery powered blowers have a high pitched noise, but this one is very muted and sounds more like a vacuum cleaner.

I say all this as I returned this kit and bought another Makita kit at Home Depot that included the attachment capable trimmer and articulating hedge trimmer attachment for $299 and then bought the blower separately. Used everything last weekend and loved it.
