Can't find any at any stores in my area (Inland CA near Riverside), and we have a few dozen. This would have been a sweet deal.

Drove to a few locations, finally found it in Beavercreek, OH (2 or 3 we're still there as well). Thanks OP!

The blower is pretty good from what I can tell from other reviews. Essentially the same power as the 36v X2 model but with half the run time. The string trimmer has multiple speeds to choose from but not a variable speed trigger. certainly adequate for many homeowners. Also, the trimmer spool reload is old school; my 8 amp corded Ryobi trimmer reloads easier with a little hand crank that slips over the bump feeder. One battery might not be enough for a bigger yard and lots of sidewalks with grass clippings. Trim, then charge, then mow, then blow.

Westminster #0647 location has several of the trimmer kits (no blower) on clearance for $99. You can find them in the back of the garden section.

I own the blower. It is extremely lightweight compared to an ego blower (I purchased both and compared side by side). With that 4ah battery you will get about 12 to 13 minutes on full power with it. It has enough power to move wet leaves. The cruise control feature is useful.
If you have other Makita tools this is a no brainer.

This seems to be getting replaced with a new sku. Anyone know what changed?

i thought I had found the last one on clearance at a local HD, but then realized it was mis-shelved with the clearance price and the associate scanned it at $279. But he said they were supposed to have 7 of the clearance sku and I spied them up and over from where you'd expect so got 1 one for $140.

Hope I can find some other makita deals now to build on the system but for my purposes this kit will be a big help as-is. I only have a B&D sweeper and weak trimmer right now so this should be a game changer for me for some tasks.
