I hopped on this deal and bought it from Amazon. Camel Camel was showing this as the lowest the price it's ever been on Amazon. On Ebay, even open box Dremels of this same kit dont even come close to matching this price. Also, searching Dremel 4300 on Slickdeals shows the lowest deal this has been prior to today was $85.

I must be hard on my Dremels as on the rare occasion I need one I seem to burn it out.. I burned out 2 cutting through a bolt on my neighbors sink..

You might need the brushes replaced (look for Dremel replacement brushes) or perhaps tightened. Though, replacing brushings can be a tedious task given Dremel sells multiple types given they're often model specific.

So what rotary tool is better than a Dremel? Currently looking for battery powered but will need AC replacement some day.

I've always used Dremels over the yrs, but my brother brought his battery powered Milwaukee one over and I was pretty impressed with it.

Walmart had the 4300-5/40 for $35.70 back in May when they had a bunch of other Dremel stuff on clearance, so it has been cheaper before. The Slickdeals post for that deal back in May didn't have the price listed and it kept going in and out of stock, so it probably got overlooked by most people at the time. The current price of $65.54 is still a good deal.

RPM is Dremel's power, there's little torque to be had when it bogs down (at least in newer models). Let it spin, take shallow cut passes and yes, use the "thinnest" cutting attachment for your application.

FYI, if the motor spins fine and there's barely any chuck rotation, your model might have a sacrificial plastic "coupling" tube ... it's supposed to break / split if the motor sees too much torque (like a torque-spike from when those discs shatter and jam into the work. Wear goggles when spinning 28,000 RPMs)

On some of the later models (last 5 years?), I had the variable-speed circuits fail - one went full-speed-only, the other had a few speed steps.

But when it comes to _selectively cutting the thinnest slot in metal, the non-fiberglass smaller discs can really save the job. Just don't have coffee or get the disc crooked. Wink

Thanks OP! I was debating this or 8220 (also on sale for $85) but seems like corded one is bit more powerful and no need to purchase extra battery.

Have a 4000 that suddenly wouldn't turn on and haven't had a chance to take it apart and find out why (brushes are fine). Don't want to have to buy a new one but don't want to miss a deal. Mad
