With 400 lumens (measured at 10 feet for example), any penlight will get super hot. That's why penlights are typically designed with less power. There's nowhere to dissipate the heat. 70 lumens is sufficient for close up inspection within 2 feet. 400 lumens is too bright for close work and better for a wide area or outdoor searches. You'd want to use this model on low mode for any extended period. However, might be nice to have 400 lumens full power for brief use or personal security.

Just an anecdote. I try to buy USB c devices as well. I ordered a new work light and specifically looked for this feature. When it came in I tried to charge it with my phone charger and no dice. Had to use a "dumb" USB A charger.

Not all things usb c play nice so it doesn't always matter.

Nice find. The lumens won't impress, but a rechargeable light with decent brightness for less than $10 is a deal.

Can I expect this to be better than any of the cheaper generic lights on the site, since it is Engergizer?

Flashlights are my slickdeals Kryptonite for real.

I ordered one. I don't even know why. I have more flashlights than I know what to do with. Seriously, I have flashlights in every drawer/closet of every room in the house. I have one of those Costco plastic tubs downstairs labeled "Flashlights" and it's filled to the brim with brand new unopened flashlights. I could pass out flashlights for Halloween.
