I was walking around a local Walmart and saw these on an end cap. They had no price tag, so I scanned it with the Walmart app and they came out to $249.99. I picked up 2 and they still had 6 more on the shelf.

With plexpass hardware transcoding, this uses Intel QuickSync and can handle 22+ 1080 transcodes without issue.

I use an old Celeron with Quicksync. I've personally hit 22 1080p at once. I don't transcode 4k so couldn't give you an estimate there.

It's amazing how many people don't realize this and frequently recommend adding GPUs for Plex. That's not needed and purely a waste of money. Even the Plex subreddit has hoards of individuals frequently recommending a GPU for Plex. Feel free... but it's a waste of money.

edit: Use Linux in this use case to avoid any headaches. I recommend Ubuntu

I picked up two yesterday. No issues. Store had about 14 of them. Works great as entry level for my kids. They can play basic computer games like Roblox and Minecraft on it.

Damn, only a few stores near me that had 'em, and of course I get to the best candidate and Brickseek was wrong. Allegedly the inventory isn't reflecting previously stolen merchandise - which I might be skeptical of normally and chalk it up to lazy employees who don't want to search the stockroom for the item, but at this particular Walmart, it adds up. Unfortunately, the other stores by me have it priced as $399, which isn't that great of a deal.

It's showing up around me at $249 for stores that have stock and $199 for stores that are now showing no stock.

But, BIG CAVEAT, the inventory system WALMART is using is ENTIRELY unreliable, so it really doesn't matter (see my post above).

About $60 for 512 GB. So not at all near.

Although I would make sure it was Gen 4 able. I see little need for Gen 4. Gen 3 is very fast.

There were 3-4 according to Brickseek. I asked about them and they said if not on shelf not available. Before I left the store Brickseek showed OOS. Oh well. Other area stores with inventory show $399.

Been over 5 years since I picked up my current desktop from Woot. It has these specs:
Intel Core i5-2400 3.1GHz Quad-Core

How big of a difference am I going to see? My current one is getting really slow, especially when my son plays Minecraft.
