I was walking around a local Walmart and saw these on an end cap. They had no price tag, so I scanned it with the Walmart app and they came out to $249.99. I picked up 2 and they still had 6 more on the shelf.

With plexpass hardware transcoding, this uses Intel QuickSync and can handle 22+ 1080 transcodes without issue.

I use an old Celeron with Quicksync. I've personally hit 22 1080p at once. I don't transcode 4k so couldn't give you an estimate there.

It's amazing how many people don't realize this and frequently recommend adding GPUs for Plex. That's not needed and purely a waste of money. Even the Plex subreddit has hoards of individuals frequently recommending a GPU for Plex. Feel free... but it's a waste of money.

edit: Use Linux in this use case to avoid any headaches. I recommend Ubuntu

I picked up two yesterday. No issues. Store had about 14 of them. Works great as entry level for my kids. They can play basic computer games like Roblox and Minecraft on it.

Picked one up for $139. There was 1 left. I may go buy it for my girlfriend for work. At this price you could sell the monitor or cpu and practically make your money back

Woohoo, grabbed one after only having to go to two different stores. Lynchburg VA area listed 2-3 in stock at a few different stores. First one I went to the guy scanned the barcode on brick seek and just said "nah, nothing is coming up." I went to another store the next county over and they actually went into the back to look. It definitely depends on who you get and if their willing, but I would second alot of other comments I saw on here - asked them if they'll go in the back and look for a big brown HP box on clearance.

I just bought one of these for $139 plus tax. My strategy for these Walmart deals is to check a nearby store if Brickseek shows there is some in stock at a reduced price. If that fails, I look for a store that has some in stock and hasn't yet lowered the price. I click check inventory a few times per day. This morning I checked and the price dropped at one store from $399 to $139, so I rushed over and found one on the shelf where they keep the desktops and all-in-ones. I went though a normal checkout lane and they were able to remove the security device.

I went on Monday. With ~6 stores showing 3-4 thought I had a chance. Went from 3-4 to Limited since then on all but one, including the one I went to. The guy wouldn't even go check and just said they don't have anything that's not on the floor. Does that mean they actually had some and I could have gotten one? Or that their system was not updated?
