No surgical mask, regardless of quality, will offer the wearer any significant protection from Covid. If you want to protect yourself, get a N95 or quality kn95. Discussing quality with regards to surgical masks is pointless.

See the Dutch study from last year for more information.

N95s would be nice, but they're far too expensive.

Found these other ones: https://www.amazon.com/Single-Disposable-Face-Mask-Pack/dp/B086T638CS/ref=pd_bxgy_1/131-7195762-1447... [amazon.com]

For few dollars more, much better reviews, and better chord.

I never thought that wearing masks would protect *me* from getting sick. It's always to prevent the person next to me from getting sick from whatever I might have.

That said, N95 masks are obviously better, no argument there. However, surgical masks are definitely better than nothing. See any credible study ever done or just ask any medical professional.

Masks can offer you some protection as well but not 100%. Not sure if you've seen the pee analogy or not yet. If a friend pees on you and you don't have pants on, you get wet. With pants on, you're only a little bit wet because you got some protection. If both have pants on, the pee will stay in the friend's pants and thus provides 100% protection to you. So masks only work to contain the spread 100% if ALL wears them.

Any good deals for KN95 or N95? We will be traveling in 3 weeks, and would like to buy some more as the ones that we have ran out.

Still confused at how after almost 2 YEARS that people don't get the FACT that it protects others, not the wearer. Confused

Why do doctors wear these every damn time they go into surgery? Because physical particulate is no debate when standing over an open body, but talking about COVID and suddenly it's no protection? Use the word no and NEARLY NO much more intentionally.

Japan study from October of 2020 showed even basic medical mask filtered about 40% and that was based upon worst case scenario. They had two machines with a manikins head with a mask and the other one coughing actual COVID-19 particles from 2 feet away. It's not perfect but anything is better than nothing. If surgical masks are completely worthless then why do doctors wear them?

Average cost of a covid hospital stay is 5 figures.
Shoot, I'd wear one of these if somebody near me had a cold. Why not? Am I trying to impress the virus with my manliness?

There's an actual plague that's killed 4.5 million people and folks are still scrambling to find YouTube videos where some guy says science is bunk as clickbait.

It's just that masks are terribly comfortable — I think everyone will be wearing them in the future.

I don't know about being comfortable to wear, but I think masks are here to stay, especially in certain areas like healthcare facilities, even post-covid…whenever that will be.
