FYI - I have completed 5 Buffalo Games 1000-piece puzzles in the last couple months. Here is my opinion of them.

- If the box cover is glued on all 4 sides, you will have to insert a knife to unlock the box. The puzzle pieces are loose in the box.
- If the box cover is not glued shut, the pieces are packaged in a plastic bag. There is less damage, but still some and there is always puzzle dust.
- Most Buffalo Games puzzles are loaded with puzzle dust and will attract dust mites if your home has high humidity
- 4 out of 5 Buffalo Games puzzles have damaged pieces - bent ends and separating pieces.
- One of the 5 had ultra-glossy pieces and these made it incredibly hard to complete because of the glare. You couldn't see the colors on the pieces without a flashlight
- Some pieces will fit in more than one place perfectly

Where do you buy your puzzles from ? I have done more than 200 in the last year and a half and have not received one Buffalo puzzle damaged. In the under $25 range the buffalo puzzles are the best in my experience. I have moved on to 2000 and more piece puzzles because I can do the thousand piece puzzle in under two hours now and it's not much of a challenge. I highly doubt four out of five of your puzzles were damaged just like I have never opened a buffalo box that the pieces were not in a bag

All the puzzles were purchased from or through Amazon. I have no reason to lie - I am just passing on my experience and if you read the reviews on Amazon, you will see more like mine. When I say "damaged", I don't mean every single piece. Maybe 5 to 15 pieces per 1000-piece puzzle. I strongly suspect the boxes that were glued shut and had no plastic bags were returns but I can't prove it. I find it hard to believe you can complete a 1000-piece puzzle in under 2 hours. I just turned 70 and my eyesight ain't what it used to be. The fastest I ever finished a 1000-piece puzzle was 5 or 6 days (2 to 4 hours per day). The largest puzzle I ever completed was a 5000-piece Star Trek puzzle that my sister bought me for Christmas a couple years ago. That was the first puzzle I completed since I was a child.

Sounds like they should be renewing their steel rule dies for cutting their puzzles. You can only cut so many impressions off a die before it gets dull.

I agree with the puzzle quality items, completely. Almost any of these name brands are "fine" especially if you get them new.

What I logged in for was your claim that you can do 1000 piece puzzles in 2 hours because "it's not much of a challenge". While I can believe certain puzzles are able to be done in 2 hours, even 1000 piecers, I think you're WILDLY overconfident depending on the picture you are working on.

Agreed. If I could consistently put together 1000 piece jigsaws by myself in under two hours I'd probably get the Guinness Book of World Records on the phone instead of post about it on Slickdeals.

I love Slickdeals... People arguing about the quality of puzzles - nothing better. FWIW I've bought dozens of puzzles since the pandemic started (probably 6 or 7 Buffalo) and only one had damage. They do sometimes have pieces that fit into multiple spots so you have to be extra careful.

I always see people saying how good Buffalo Games' puzzles are and rarely ever see complaints. I have to agree with this poster though. My experience with them has been rough. I purchased one puzzle through Amazon. I believe it was even a SlickDeal. I completed the puzzle several months later and there were two missing pieces. I contacted BG about their missing pieces policy. Due to Covid they said there would be a delay in shipping, which was fine with me. Two months later I contacted them again to ask about the status. I received an email saying that a replacement had been shipped. Several days later I received a totally different puzzle, Nothing close to what I would ever order myself. I sent an email asking why they sent a totally different puzzle. They stated that their replacement policy was if they did not have the puzzle in stock then they would give a choice of puzzles. Funny thing is that they never gave me a choice. They then refused to answer any further emails and refused to respond to a BBB complaint. Amazon did refund the purchase price more than three months later though but they did not allow me to post a review of the company.

Adding my experience:
I bought two from the last slickdeals post. Out of the two, one came with the box damaged (one of the glued sides had come apart and I wasn't going to count the pieces to find out if there was 1000 still) so I got a replacement. Both boxes were glued shut (2 dabs of glue on each side). Neither had a plastic bag.

Completed both and did notice some pieces on both had some minor damage (slightly bent, some layers peeling). Also had one piece where the bottom layer wasn't completely separated so I had to pull it apart myself.

I have very little experience in buying puzzles so I do not know what the expectation should be, but hope my experience would be somewhat useful for others in their decision.
