I use the Igloo medium sized ice packs in my lunch bag daily. They keep cold and are more durable than an off-brand version I purchased from Walmart, two which have since cracked and leaked.
Do note these are for the small size. The Amazon photos may be misleading as it only shows the medium sized ice packs (4.25" x 0.94" x 7.94").

...don't frozen water bottles do the same thing, plus you can drink them???
I use same as you. Especially in summer when going grocery shopping at several different places. Using a cooler with frozen water bottles very helpful.

I don't think so and you shouldn't use water bottles unless they're re-usable. I'm not sure if you're aware but they don't ever get recycled and instead go directly to a landfill or pollute the earth for millions of years. Just think of all your water bottles outliving you by millions of years.... it's a bad idea.

Of course Frozen Water bottles will do the same thing, but if you are drinking them you are likely not re-using them which has an environmental cost.
Reusable water bottles are typically insulated which wouldn't help much with keeping your stuff cool.
You could seal ice in ziploc bags which is re-usable, drinkable and probably lowest cost of all the options, including these packs. High chance of eventual leak though.

You can just keep re-freezing the same cheap "disposable" water bottle. I use the "disposable" bag-type freezer packs that are shipped with medication, until they leak.
These freezer packs never get recycled, either.
Water bottles do sometimes get recycled via "downcycling".

As of typing this, Walmart is also selling these at the same price: https://www.walmart.com/ip/Igloo-...k/45821644
