My time spy with this laptop.

Without the little overclock setting in msi center, it was time spy 9185, gpu 9010, and cpu 10328

Got this a couple of days ago. Screen is better than I thought, but red is slightly orange, etc. Doesn't bother me that much, surprisingly.

But I can't seem to use the device encryption, which is annoying. Anyone knows about this?

Many people got it for 1199 which makes it even more killer, but they fixed that pricing error. I managed to get customer service to match that 1199 and add 50 for a coupon I had. 1250 out the door.

my very first gaming laptop, I don't have room for a desktop, I have iMac occupying my desk for work/day trading. this is just going to be my windows desk replacement.

is this equivalent to a medium end desktop? hope it can play games for another 4-5 years

Oh that comment was a test because google sign in with slickdeals is being weird and doesn't work so I had to log in with email.
I wanted to answer your question about the 3060 laptop to desktop performance.
If you were able to get a gpu at msrp the $400 desktop 3060ti gets about 30% more frames over the laptop 3060.

400 3060ti desktop
300 5600x
100 motherboard
100 16gb ram
100 1 tb ssd
100 case
100 psu
100 windows
100 fans and other stuff I'm missing
1400 no tax, 1540 10% tax

1540 is 23.2% more than the 1250 you paid but you get about 30% more fps according to notebookcheck on cyberpunk and more fps value (up to 100%, double the frames) if you get a msrp 3080. Of course there's more factors to this but this is how I see it when looking at only fps.

I'm guessing you know all this but are severely restricted on space. Long term a desktop is cheaper and the desktop gpu version is always more powerful since it's not restricted by laptop thermals. But oh my goodness if you do have the space, the difference between 3080 desktop and 3060 laptop is huge at high res. You can play cyberpunk on 4k 30fps or double the fps on 1440p, 72 vs 36 3060 laptop. Or 120 fps 1080 on the 3080 vs 80 fps 1080 on the 3060 laptop.

You can probably play most games for 5 years at a good fps but at some point the resolution and fps won't be pretty or downright unplayable in the future unless there's 480p and lower res if tolerable.

But now that I compared this to the $1500(1800-300 found from the mail) 3070 version on costco also, I realized the one you bought is the better deal since the 3070 is only like 10% better but costs 300 more if factoring the price mistake match. I wonder if they'll restock before the sale ends and if I can price match the extra 100 off error.

But I'm really kicking myself when I found this deal

It's all or nothing for me. Either console 720p 30fps or 3080 1440p 144fps. But scalped consoles without a warranty is a big red flag, scalped gpus also red flag warranty since not bought directly from authorized seller, so really only a costco laptop is at least covered.

Building a desktop is over msrp right now, defective prebuilts have insane shipping cost for repairs, so laptops with cheaper shipping for repairs seems like the "cheapest" way to play games in this climate.

thank you for that info!.

but heres the truth, I actually got mine for a grand.... check it. feels borderline sketchy

I paid 1299 (1400 after tax) I Called Costco, and told them others got it for 1199 and I was jealous, but I also had a 50 off coupon. The rep was laughing and said not problem, gave me 150 back (162 due to tax) refunded.

It took me several days to get my laptop over the time, I called them and they did investigation and found out fedex basically lost my package for a few days. They refunded me another 150 bucks, (162 again) for the inconvenience.

I am now at 1072 after tax. I ordered amazon, 32gb of ram, and it got lost, straight up GOT LOST. they initiated a investigation, and it was cycling through the wrong facility and I would never get it. They told me to order a new 32gb ram, and the lady refunded me it due to a week of waiting.

So that was FREE, then!! I GOT A 64gb of ram!! they sent me 64gb instead of 32.

So I am now at 1072 with a MSI GE76 with 3060 rtx with 64gb of ram. I also get a 4 year warranty from Costco from using their Visa card, and since I am a executive member, I get 4% back on 1072 too. thats 40 bucks back at end of year, so 1032 dollars.

keep in mind I am a high value customer at amazon and Costco, so I spend a lot. but this seems fricken awesome! I wish it was a 3070 don't get me wrong, and part of me said if I see a MSI GE76 pop up within 90 days that I may splurge for it, but I know it wouldn't be anywhere near the price I got for my laptop, so the price to performance. is not going to get matched, I am smarter to keep what I have.

2021 MSI ge76, i7-11800h with rtx 3060 130 watt 6gb, with 64gb of ram, for 1032 dollars after tax. (including the 4% cash back) with 4 year warranty to boot. which I think is worth a lot, because Costco if can't fix it, they refund you.

thank you fedex for being dipchits. (jk I don't actually know what happened, but every package this week was delayed by about a week from fedex) must be from the hurricane etc trying to catch up

the price of that desktop 1540 vs my 1032 both after tax prices, is a 33% difference, which means I think I am basically at the same FPS cost to performance ratio as that desktop, but in laptop form.

Not sketchy, rather extremely lucky multiple times! WOW, Yeah definitely KEEP THAT MIRACLE! That desktop I mentioned and probably ever other huge bulky desktop would need expensive shipping for defective repairs so that's why a laptop is better than desktop in shipping cost for defective repairs.

I also want to clarify in case you need to use the warranty in the last 2 years. Costco warranty only covers the first 2 years. The last 2 years is from Citi but I read a reddit post saying they had good service and replaced their 1k+ asus laptop including compensation for a diagnosis which needed to be documented, paperwork proof to calculate the repair cost. Citi will cover the repair cost, shipping cost, diagnosis cost, or just give you a check or refund. Everything related to the defective issue without you paying anything from what I recall from that post.

Wow your great experience with costco reminds me how awesome their service is and how potentially more expensive the pre built companies are with repair shipping costs. My dad has been shopping with Costco for years and paying the membership is a extremely small fee for the service they provide compared to about literally everywhere else.

If I wanted to price match the $100 error, would they really match the error if I tell them "Other people got the laptop for 1199 so can you price match me with those people, because I will do business with costco and buy this laptop for 1199?"

I would give you my order number, but it wont do you any good because I paid 1299 and got adjustments, if my order was the 1199 id give you my order info and let them see and witness the change, your rep may not know it was 1199, mine didnt.

but I did use this screenshot

I cannot locate the other MSI ge76 deal page, its on there. not this one, but a screenshot of a persons order.

there's 3 post below this post

heres the photo of someones order
https://slickdeals.net/forums/attachment.php?attachmentid=10516159&d=1630591418

and the whole thread of people saying they got it for 1199.

https://slickdeals.net/f/15254845-msi-17inch-ge76-i7-and-3060rtx-at-costco-members-only-1299-potential-1199#commentsBox

including my replies saying they price matched! have them look at that page and everyones replies. id buy it, then get adjusted, and if they wont and you don't want it, return it within 90 days.

I just added a new comment on end of that thread stating they honored my adjustment from 1299 to 1199 due to others getting it. make sure you show them that thread. my rep actually looked at that deal page and read the comments thats when she gave me the 100 bucks back. wasn't hard, just took about 10 mins

edit.. that isn't the thread let me find it. that has the photo but the other thread has everyone saying they got 100 off, that isn't it. 1 sec

Thank you for all this help. It seems the lenovo is the more popular choice, maybe objectively, by screen, non gamer business design especially, thermals, and software vantage center. If Costco sold the popular lenovo legion 5 3060 they would be moving units instantly with their reputation and competitive discounts.
