Everyone should get a kitchen scale. They're so cheap and accurate these days. When making recipes, it's so much more convenient to weigh ingredients instead of getting a bunch of measuring cups dirty (you will need a chart with how much certain ingredients weigh though since American recipes are measured by volume which is stupid). Even for very simple drink mixes, it's super convenient for measuring water since all these new kitchen scales will measure volume of water (it has a built-in conversion between weight and volume). So instead of getting a measuring cup, you just tare it with a cup on top, put in water, and you're done. Milk is close enough in weight, but I believe you will need to do your own conversion for oils.
Also, you can measure packages/mail for shipping packages or knowing if you need a second stamp. If you every sell anything on eBay, this is a must. Their estimates are always low and you always end up having to spend more at the post office at the time of shipping.

I had an earlier version of this found on SD from 10 years ago. It lasted about 7 years. They are modestly fragile. I think my old one died from a corroding thin wire that reached down one of the support legs. It was useful for the once a year when I actually follow a recipe, but even more for NOT having to go to the post office when sending something under the 13oz limit, I'm getting another.

Mods, can you please REMOVE the Amazon link once it's dead instead of just putting "NLA" in tiny letters next to it?
All this is going to do is get people to accidentally buy it at the higher price.
That' not slickdeals fault if they fail to pay attention to what the price is. It is not government's and business's responsibility to save careless, lazy, and ignorant people from themselves. All that does is encourage people to be careless, lazy, and ignorant. Putting NLA in red letters is more than sufficient.
