I've bought those many times. They just have a bit of damage to the carboard package. The filters are fine.
Also, Costco had the 10 pack of Britas for $28 in August. They usually put them on sale every other month.

Been looking for pur pitcher and filters, but PUR is almost out of business seems like, nothing in stock anywhere for PUR. Looking for a good alternative

You mean I can't keep using this one I've had for 18 months? That being true, I rarely refill the pitcher more than 1/week, so it could be fine.

Yeah, me too. Long time user of PUR, but cannot find it anywhere now.

I think you're right. It really depends on your water conditions

If you have cleaner water, you don't need to change it as often.

I have lots of minerals in my water, leaving stains in my sinks, showers and toilets. My filter actually gets clogged up faster than their recommended interval.

How does the Kirkland brand version of this work?
It always seemed like a good deal at Costco.

maybe stating the obvious but if you have kids, get a reverse osmosis system if you're worried about lead. You can get one for $200 and way better than brita.

Test. Freeze ice cubes using both filter. One will be clear, the other cloudy
