If this is something very meaningful to you, look into a reverse osmosis system for your home.
Unfortunately EPA has failed miserably in establishing legal limits for many of these contaminants even after scientific evidence has demonstrated their health hazards. Therefore consumers should test their tap water at a reputable lab or at minimum check EWG.ORG/TAPWATER to understand what has been detected in their utility and then buy a water filter technology that will remove or significantly reduce hazardous carcinogens and other contaminants.
This filter IS NOT going to give you the level of purity considered "potable water" found in bottled water today. IT WILl NOT REMOVE any of the big contaminants like lead, nitrate, nitrite, radium, arsenic, etc. that are currently in tap water across all utilities in the USA.
I think these filters and any Brita product should come with a big warning sign alerting consumers of this important difference. Today this product gives consumers a false sense of security that if used you will be drinking clean water, when you will not!

I have Brita product and I bought "real brita filters" and also bought "non-branded filter". And tried them both, the brita seemed to work ok, but the "non-branded filter didn't work that great for me, sometimes it will filter super-super slow, painfully slow, like ketchep slowly drips onto hamburger commerical I saw as kid.
Did you buy non-branded Brita filters ... or only ordered Branded Brita filters.
Hopefully, many years back hose water was "closer" to pure compared to how cities recycle sewage water back into hose water. ... my "word art" is not as poetic.
Aquatru
Bluevua
If you are handy with tools go for a undersink RO system or my aqua filter types where I got good filtration
I have no affiliations with these brands and have used all of the above over the last 5-7 yrs
