8GB is enough for "99%" of users, unless you listen to a lot of audiobooks, and read books with a lot graphic contents, eg comic books. By the way you can always delete and redownload books in your library at any time.

Eh this was the BS response from customer service - that the promo code was having problems so they took the $45 off the listed price.

Its an insanely stupid response given that the promo code was supposed to be for prime for students vs. just a discount for everyone. Additionally, the product routinely goes on sale to mid 80s or less, makes no sense to drop the price just because a promo code was having issues.

They just didn't like that people were signing up to stack the coupons, and they are really pissing off a lot of us by being obstinate about a $45 deduction.

The supervisor I spoke with yesterday told me that they would give me a refund once I received my paperwhite today. I was skeptical but I called and the representative issued the refund! I honestly thought Amazon was going to figure out a way to not issue the refund…it took a few minutes to process but it was painless.

Just clicked the link in this thread. Took me to the kindle page and it had a banner at the top with the code. Maybe it's targeted somehow? Just checked again. Banner with the code is still there when I sign in (student account).

I have a student account, and it's still working for me. Debating whether to wait for the 20% trade-in or just spend the the full $40 + tax. But it seems combing both coupons works for some and not for others. By the time I get my trade-in coupon, they'll probably entirely cancel this student promo. Amazon likes to play these tricks. This is after spending $55 + tax on a Kindle Basic for Prime day. Mad Even though in some ways, I like it better than the Paperwhite.
