Looks like this is the video.

Latest Project Farm video comparing water filter like Brita, ZeroWater, PUR, Berkey, Aquaphor, AquaTrue, RV Filter, Lifestraw, Survivor Filter Pro, etc

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ja0ioX6GSz0

It did TDS test and Iron/Ph test using test strip. It also open up all the filter to see what's inside those filter.

Conclusion from the video....
If you're looking for a water filter that's going to do a good job of cleaning up the water leaving the minerals alone but taking out some of the impurities the, Aquaphor seems like a great option
ZeroWater did a great job of cleaning up the water, removing the impurities including the iron.
And finally I really like the reverse osmosis that's offered by the AquaTrue, it does a great job.

Tap Water (Total Dissolved Solids)
| ppm (part per million/milligrams per liter (mg/L))
ZeroWater | 0
AquaTru | 36
Survivor Filter Pro | 231
Aquaphor | 233
Brita | 234
Homemade | 237
Frizzlife | 253
Sawyer | 256
Untreated Water(baseline) | 259
Lifestraw | 259
PUR | 260
RV Filter | 267
Berkey | 284

Iron
| (ml/L))
ZeroWater | 0
AquaTru | 0
Aquaphor | 10
Brita | 50
Frizzlife | 50
Berkey | 50
Sawyer | 100
PUR | 100
Lifestraw | 100
RV Filter | 250
Survivor Filter Pro | 250
Homemade | 500

This filter recently kicked serious butt in a truly independent head to head testing by ProjectFarm on Youtube.

Britta / all the others sucked compared to this.

if I didn't have a fully installed RO system i'd buy this plus all the other accoutrements.

If you look at the reviews on Amazon, it seems like it has a really short useful life. Something like 70 gallons. Then it essentially stops functioning, unlike a traditional filter

People shouldn't be concerned with how long it lasts. What's the solution - filter less or go unfiltered? If you have really bad water, get a R.O. system.
I mean, if a filter was $10 and it lasted 10 days I'd be concerned personally. Seems wasteful if nothing else.

I'd rather use something like these under sink filters if I had a family of four or something.

My concern is that water contains alot of beneficial trace elements as well and it seems that zerowater also filters those out too.

Per wirecutter "ZeroWater's most prominent claim is that its filters remove 100% of "total dissolved solids" in water—basically, minerals. Tests we conducted in 2016 confirmed that claim—but it's not necessarily a good thing. According to the World Health Organization (PDF), higher TDS in drinking water is associated with lower incidence of cancer and heart disease, and, as the WHO says, "Water with extremely low concentrations of TDS may also be unacceptable because of its flat, insipid taste.""

what does everyone think of the above?
I don't think water is our main source to get minerals. We could get them from foods, drinks other than water, etc which contains way more minerals than tap water.

Zero minerals is like drinking distilled water, isn't it ?

Yes, the ZeroWater filter is basically the DI portion of an RO/DI filter. As the majorty of their filter is just DI resin, as seen from PF when he opened it up.

But without the RO to prefilter the contaminants down to ~10tds, the DI resin in the ZeroWater will just get saturated very fast.

If you have need to filter large quantities of water to 0 tds, and can install then get an RO/DI filter.
70 Gallons????? Where I live its (well) less than 20, and it is still comparable to me carrying the big water bottles to the store for refill, if you take into account labor and gas.

Not true. It would depend on the TDS of the water going in and so forth.

My TDS tests regularly at 40 - 60 (55~) and I still read at 0 and they recommended replacement at 7.

In my honest experience it lasts a long time.

This is a TDS map from ZeroWater, alas it's a bit dated and is based on customer input. It's averaged at a state level, so not very useful since it's possible that city water in some municipalities will have different TDS than in others, and of course well water will be yet something else.

But in general, the lower the TDS of your water, the longer your filter will last.

Yeah, I wish I could get 70 gallons. That's only possible if your tap water is really clean, like 50-60 TDS maybe. My tap water is around 150 TDS. I get about 30 gallons out of a single ZeroWater filter. A gallon of purified drinking water costs about $1.20 here, so ZeroWater is much cheaper.

They are getting rid of these filters since we will be moving away from water to synthetic water. You do not need to drink as much. Just like cars now use synthetic oil which lasts longer.

We are after all machines. Just biological machines.
The problem is the numerous documented negative side effects of Dihydrogen Monoxide which a lot of people don't realize and is directly related to the function of these filters. It is and can be hazard. A big pro is proper levels of Dihydrogen Monoxide can give a competitive advantage in athletics but there is a fine line to balance. The dangers are real but often unnoticed until its too late.

Im guessing the deal is over :/

Anyway ive been a strictly Zero Water customer for 9 years. Although I was always a fan of water, this water filtration system changed my life in germs of health! However, the filter can clog sometimes which is a pain to remedy :/.

I received 4/12 filters and had the rest of my order cancelled. I'm staying away from ordering from walmart.com. Customer service and recovery definitely not worth the hassle. Shop elsewhere.
