Was just about to comment about this. I haven't used the Stella headphones but I will say the Dekoni Limited Edition Stellia pads on the Elagia sound better than the Celestee with stock pads, IMO.

MASSIVE upgrade over the stock Elagia pad and for $500 or so (before tax) for the Elagia and the Dekoni pads you're getting a killer pair of headphones. Punch way above their price bracket.

I wasn't a huge believer in swapping out pads and stuff but after trying it out I'm a huge fan. Took about ten seconds and it's so easy you could train a chimpanzee to do it.
I also picked these up at the same price in an earlier sale. Super easy to drive and don't need an amp but they do benefit from a better signal and gear. I added a bit of energy in the lower end with an EQ and now find these fantastic for my music taste of classic rock, acoustic, singer songwriter and metal. Pronounced vocals which I like. Strong dynamics. Not the best noise isolation but not terrible. The cord they send with these now is better then the one you see in early reviews. It is now the rubberized one that comes with the Celestee I think. Single ended and short enough for using mobile but not really long enough for a desktop setup. Seems to be decent quality to me and I was able to get the kink out thought it took some time. The case is really nice. Like you will kind of want to show it off nice. Large though as these don't fold up. Build quality and material quality both seem very high to me. The newer Celestee with the leather over the ear cups is a clear step up over these though. For the sale price, these are a good deal in my opinion. You car certainly do worse at this price. .
I got these during the last sale. Great Mids and female voice sound really good. The only problem was that I had ringing in my ears after listening even in really low volumes.. also mid-bass is practically non-existent. Build quality is great... Feels very premium

I don't understand the value these bring vs my current pair of Sony WH-1000 XM4 headphones. Although I bought the XM4 when it first came out, my total cost was only $279.99 because of credit card discounts. Is the sound quality on a $500 pair of cans that much better?

Honestly, there are sub-$100 headphones that sound better than the XM4. With those you're simply paying for comfort, very good noise cancellation, and brand name. I'm not familiar with this particular focal so can't comment on how it differs. But if you are into audio at all the headphone rabbit hole is worth going down.

$100 headphones? Doubt it. Dont forget the mic in XM4 is really good too. The reason I asked is because the perception is that these are like Beats or some other shitty brand, yet critics say otherwise

If the XM4's are the best, Sony must be stupid to make this wired headphone with no ANC for $1800

https://www.amazon.com/Sony-MDRZ1...881&sr=8-5

Doesn't Sony know that ANC Bluetooth headphones are the best?
😎😜

I'm not sure what xm1004 headphones are, but I'm referring to Sony WH-1000 XM4.

I just got the Focal Listen professional for audio mixing. Shall I get this one instead? Just $100 more.

Have these. Steal for $400. Sound improves dramatically with EQ. I use Resolve's setting, which you can find easily with a google search. Stock cable isnt great though. Stiff and only 4' long. I recommend Hart audio for a replacement cable, or for a cheaper option the 3m Meze cable on Amazon for $20 will work.

Love my Elegias....I'm open to new pads, but $100 for ear pads is highway robbery.

I'm considering getting the Celestee, but the sale price is tempting for the Elegia. Would you recommend these for some bass-dropping electronica?

If you want good heavy bass, I would recommend the Campfire Cascades (MSRP 700?) or the Argons MKIII (350?). I have owned both and they sound awesome bass wise. But if you want the best bass, I would recommend the Fostex TH-900. At drop right now, they have a somewhat similar headphone which is the E-MU Teak.
