If you're any self-respecting Slickdealer who grills and is thinking about jumping in to lump charcoal, just "Add to cart" and think later like all other SD posts. This is a great grill at a great price.
We bought the BigJoe III just over a year ago and picked up one of these courtesy of a previous SD post. We use the Big Joe III for big cookouts (10+ people) or for large low-and-slow meals like full briskets (just finished a trimmed 16 lb Wagyu). For everything else, this KJ Junior is our go-to. Burgers for 6? Done. 2x 3-lb ribeyes? Done. 4-5 NY strip? Done. The grill uses significantly less charcoal and response to vent changes much faster with regards to temperature.
Pro-tip:
1. KJ/Kickash charcoal basket helpful for managing charcoal/ash in a similar manner to the 18 and 24" versions of this grill
2. Get the Ikea Bror utility cart; use a jigsaw to make yourself a $130 stand: https://www.reddit.com/r/KamadoJo...our_table/
3. Ikea Bror: https://www.ikea.com/us/en/p/bror...-60333850/
4. Big block charcoal can be a bit big for this... Jealous Devil is what I primarily use now
Or go over to the best dealer for Kamado's, Atlanta Grill Company and get it for the same price but no tax depending on your state. None for AL, so $299 OTD free shipping.
It was $335 through walmart after tax.

Description says Amazon but the link is for Walmart. Amazon has price ~$50 higher than Walmart and CCC says that $299 is the lowest price it usually goes during the year.
Seems like a good deal but it does look a bit small. Anyone us a KJ of this size before and have thoughts?

I have the akorn Jr that is 14". I can only make one 9" pizza in about 10mins...I'll make 6 pizzas for 4 people.
I can fit a whole chicken or small turkey in it.
4 large burgers is no problem.
I definitely want a bigger grill, but its ok for 4 people.
13.5" is pretty small. Maybe 4 decent size burgers, but then fitting the spatula has limited real-estate. These are GREAT for....1 person. Maybe 2. Who never cooks anything big. I'd really be surprised if those small whole chickens from costco would even fit in it, as the dome looks lower. In the end $300 for a really small smoker is a push.

Miss the good 'ol days (missed the deal by a day) when they were selling the "Akorn" variety for $50 or less at Walmart during the Fall clearance ... seems like those prices will never be seen again :'(
As for the Jr, it's a searing monster and good for smaller cooks. Can't do a full packer but several burgers, steaks, whole chicken, 9-10 thighs, and the like it'll do without too much an issue. And seems a lot more miserly when it comes to charcoal than its larger brothers. If it's your only grill, it'll probably be a bit small for a family.. But as a complementary one it's superb.
Heats up ridiculously fast too so it's a good weekday 'I just got home and need to fire up the grill' grill.

I see 399 at ATL grill. I picked this up yesterday from walmart. Reviews are great and only really need room for 2 steaks.

I have one for about 3 years now, and you really can get by with it. You can cook easily 6 or 7 burgers in that, a whole chicken, a small to medium Boston butt cut as sold in most grocery stores...i even cooked pizzas in it and it cooks really fast at those temperatures so while not ideal, I have on several occasions cooked for 8 adults with little issues, cooking faster than they could eat. Now this being said, it is still a compromise, a bigger 20in or more grill will be more comfortable. But I think in general people tend to underestimate what you can cook on those small grills.
Another note, is that having had 5 kamados (green egg, acorn and vision grill) , the small Joe is my least favorite. It has plastic handle (looks cheap but last longer than wood), the paint on the chimney flakes (none of the others did that) and in its third year, my Joe lid cracked (I did not move it so it must be thermal shock) . I can still use it but it should not have happened.
Edit: also the Joe came broken, poorly packed. May be that changed since. I paid 450 on amazon, some 3 years ago (so 299 is a great deal I think) . The seller sent replacement for the broken handle and the broken firebox. My first vision grill came also broken and they sent me a second one while letting me keep the cracked but functional one.

I have been looking at these for a month or two now. I noticed Wal-Mart had the 18 inch on sale, as well. It was $670 (plus a $50 delivery fee for me). https://www.walmart.com/ip/Kamado.../126810886

It would be better if I could make a large pizza.
