Yeah, this is a slow drive, Barracuda, SMR, 5400 RPM... but hard to find storage in the ~$17.50/TB territory, and good for archives, chia, media, backup, whatever. Free ship from Walmart.

For the capacity and price, might as well get 2.5" 4tb drives at around $80-$90 , no external power is required

Seems normal price to me unless it has no need extra power source, then it would be a nice deal!

I need one or two additional drives for my new unRAID NAS, but Seagate would have to drop even lower in price before I went with them over WD.

SMR drive is absolutely what you shouldn't put in Unraid. WD 8+TB is what you should look for.

Anyone considering this for Chia, the payoff horizon is like 400-500 days at current chia price ($215)

Seagate 10tb and larger are also good for Unraid.

Also JFYI...., Walmart, and HD's.
There is a big issue with people buying, swapping the drive, and returning as NEW.
If you bought a HD in Walmart that doesn't work, DO NOT RMA it under any conditions!!!
WD will confiscate it and Walmart will not help you in any way.

Jon or Tom wrote a post about why SMR is fine for unRaid when these drives first started shipping.

TLDR; unRaid != RAID (hence the name), no drive drop timeout

For performance concerns parity should still be CMR.
