I use mine to pay my iCloud every month. Put the credit on my account and it automatically debits from there.
Ever since Apple combined their iTunes and Apple Store gift cards the only deals you can really find are "Buy $100 Apple GC and get $10 Target or Best Buy GC."

This is the same thing as "Buy $50 and get $5 Amazon GC" but since so many people use Amazon its basically a free $5 for anyone who was going to buy an Apple GC anyway.
That's an Apples to Applebee's comparison.

I bought 4 ($200 total) and received only one $5 promotional credit. I guess Amazon is serious about the 1 per customer limit.

A lot of people have already posted on its usefulness. But, I am not sure if this is mentioned in this thread. You cannot buy AppleCare + using these gift cards online. You have to go to a physical store to use them for AC.
Not when you buy AC+ in the initial order.

I did this, got the Amazon promo code, but any time I enter it, I get an error that it can't be used for this purchase. What is it valid on?

So I'm looking at new phones, debating trying out apple. Is paying for iCloud storage basically a requirement for the phone to function properly? Like it will be laggy or something if you don't? I'm hesitant to spend $800+ on a phone that then requires me to have a monthly subscription to function optimally (outside of the monthly phone service bill anyway)
It's entirely possible to have full phone functionality without iCloud. I am a photo hoarder that doesn't want to delete photos from 10 years ago from my phone, so I'm paying for that, plus I don't want to use an external more time-consuming backup system like Dropbox, google, or manual computer backup. iCloud isn't that expensive so I don't mind paying $3 a month so that in the event that I lose my phone, I can just connect a new iPhone to my iCloud and pick up where I left off.

Well, the other question is, say you decide to go android for a phone. Do you lose access to your photos? do they get deleted? or can you still access them just not able to add any more when you stop paying? I'm disinclined to pay for a service that wouldn't work regardless of what brand of phone I own. If they cut you off from access it just seems like a pain in the butt to switch.
