Worth a shot to log in to your Discover card account and "chat" a rep. Four months ago, I came off a 12 month 0% APR on purchases and just got it again by asking. Of course TWO months ago I asked if there were any special APR rates and was told "no." Last chat was this:
Me: "Good morning, I was wondering if there were any special offers available on my card"
Rep: "Was there anything in particular you were looking for?"
Me: "Special APR for purchases or anything interesting?"
Rep: "I show you are eligible for 0% APR for the next 12 months, would you like me to apply that to your account?"
Me: Sure, thanks!

Ive had this since march. Basically if your balance is less than 10% your credit limit and you have a credit score over 750 they will offer you this!

I've gotten this every year for the past 5 years. When it expires wait until 2 months and 1 day after it expires and they'll give it to you for another year through chat.

Is there potential for accumulating such a huge balance that it becomes overwhelming to pay off?

I pay my balance monthly. 0% apr is nice.
I'd imagine you'd still want to pay more than the minimum monthly? So the balance never gets out of hand?

Yes. I've done it lol. We moved some money around and paid it, but it hurt. It wasn't so much "extra" spend, as us putting EVERYTHING on this card for a year and paying off other debt, but definitely had sticker shock at the end.

Do you still have to pay finance fees with 0 apr? If I take this offer, I can pay the monthly minimum and don't have to worry about any hidden fees? Thanks.

Yes of course you can technically accumulate a balance up to the credit limit of the card. Frankly they're probably counting on a certain amount of people to do that since they make the most money off of people carrying huge balances and only paying the minimum. It's up to you to budget properly. I mostly use it for purchases I would have made anyway.

If you're not investing the money and just putting it in a savings accounts then I suppose it could make sense to pay more than the minimum so it doesn't get out of hand but you don't have to worry about that as long as you make sure to have enough money saved to pay it off at the end of the promotion.
