You can use them in the app but it's PAINFUL. I bought a $50 a few years ago and I swore I'd never do it again. Half the franchises have broken gift card bar code scanners, the other half have clueless employees who have no idea how to run a gift card from the app. My success rate using the gift card was less than 50%. I'd always have to bring cash into the store with me "just in case." Totally not worth it IMO.

I never did that; not sure if you pay in store with them scanning your phone (no good) or if you pay at the time with app at the time you order (would be okay).

For what it's worth….I had 2 plastic My Subway rewards cards which later transitioned to gift cards from years ago. I assume these are the same ones used today on new in-store gift card purchases. If you have/can get those (even with a 0 balance) you can link them to your in-app account. Once you do that you can take the gift card purchased in this promo, add it to your same in-app account, and then take the balance and transfer it to the physical card. That allows you to pay for an in-app purchase OR pay in store with a physical swipe of the card. The transfer process in the app is very simple and seamless.

You pay in the app. No shenanigans from local staff, your order is set on a shelf by the counter.

With a lot of products on SD, it makes sense to post comments like "I own this and it's great because...", or "I own this and it's terrible because...". Those are helpful to other people.

With restaurant gift cards, nobody cares if you personally like the restaurant. Nobody is going to buy a $50 Subway card if they've never had Subway and never formed their own opinions on the food.

TL;DR - If you like Subway, congratulations. If you don't like Subway, congratulations. Nobody cares.
