Why does the title say "select customers"? This is the standard feature for everyone with these cards. Rotating categories.
these days you can buy any gift card to anywhere or even a visa prepaid credit card which you can use anywhere. But for 5% I don't know if it's totally worth it for many things. You lose all the credit card benefits like extended warranty, the ability to chargeback. (And if you're me then you might lose the cards)
i mean if that works then technically you can buy gift cards to anywhere and get 5% off.

I don't think so. If you use PayPal the transaction on your card shows up as PayPal (this is why you can use PayPal key to pay for stuff online at places that don't take PayPal and still get the 5% bonus for PayPal)
Can you use Paypal instore too, setting Paypal Key as the payment?
I connected Google Pay to my PayPal with the funding source in PayPal set to my Flex card. So I theoretically can use my phone in store to pay and have this qualify for the 5%...
Has anyone else tried this? I'm going to give it a shot with a purchase this week

Here is my experience
I had paypal set to Chase Freedom as my default payment. I connected Google Pay to my Paypal. I used Google Pay at Aldi's. It ended up using the bank ACH however
In Kroger Pay app I added Paypal MasterCard key directly as the default payment. That worked when I used it at Kroger Self Checkout
In Bp.me I had set up Paypal + Discover last quarter. And it worked by using Discover card for 5%.
I deleted that payment added Paypal again. Chase showed up as default payment while linking. The transaction is pending authorization for the last two days
I have been able to use MasterCard Paypal key in other online sites for bill and other payments as well.

Nice Thanks, I don't have any PayPal cards so that won't work for me. I usually only use PayPal on Ebay..
So it's a bit strange trying to get this to work properly.

I have purchased in Walmart after activating the offer. But Chase have not awarded 5% for Walmart Supercenter purchases. Can others please provide your experience
Yes I have bought gift cards from Walmart using CC multiple times.
Do note all Gift cards have an activation fee of $5-$7. In my experience GC sold at Walmart have the lowest activation fee as compared to other places (Target, CVS etc)
Be sure to check the fees.
I saw some VISA gift cards that had $5.94 fee (WalmartGift.com) and some with the $4.94 fee (VanillaGift.com) .
I know that $1 isn't a big deal, but I prefer not pay it if I don't need to.

The setup works as far as Google Pay, Sending to Paypal and Paypal sending to Chase. I made a purchase on Sept 30 that went through with no issues.. Unfortunately I haven't had any purchases so far in October to see if the 5% will be given or not.

Maybe if enough of us bug Paypal, they will bump it up the priority list

How do you know it wasn't awarded?

Walmart has always been 5% when the category is Walmart.
