Why does the title say "select customers"? This is the standard feature for everyone with these cards. Rotating categories.
these days you can buy any gift card to anywhere or even a visa prepaid credit card which you can use anywhere. But for 5% I don't know if it's totally worth it for many things. You lose all the credit card benefits like extended warranty, the ability to chargeback. (And if you're me then you might lose the cards)
i mean if that works then technically you can buy gift cards to anywhere and get 5% off.

For those eager to use the 5% paypal and didnt get a virtual card option (I didn't, as I was downgrading): the Chase app can steer you through it and will validate with Paypal.
- enter Chase app
- scroll to the bottom of "Account Services"
- click "Digital Wallets"
- click on Paypal and follow the procedure
G luck. That's how I circumvented Chase/USPS umm.. flexible timing.
I thought this would be a bad quarter but I do the following.
#1 Go to PayPal/wallet and choose PayPal Key
#2 Link the Chase card to that Key
#3 Add it to online stores like Amazon
#4 Put a reminder on 12/31 to delete that PayPal Key
It only works with online orders. I can't figure out a way to add it to places like Google Wallet.
Reporting back on my experience with PayPal Key so far, this is from posted transactions in Chase UR Portal:
7% earn- Corner Bakery (PayPal Key) . 1% base + 2% dining + 4% bonus PayPal
9% earn- Amazon Fresh (Groceries) - 1% base + 4% up to $12k groceries 1st year + 4% PP
9% earn- Krogers (delivery)- 1% base + 4% up to $12k groceries 1st year + 4% PP
As others reported I'm sure it doesn't stack Walmart purchases made with PayPal- but nice to see it will stack with the groceries 1st year promotion as well as the bonus 2% for eating out
Both my mom and I went to the nearest Walmart.
This Walmart is not technically a SuperCenter but does sell some grocery items.
I bought just a VISA gift card. It coded as WAL-MART #xxxx. I got the 5%.
My mother bought a VISA gift card and some food items. It coded as WM SUPER CENTER #xxxx . She got the 1% only. Had to call Chase and they promised to put the points onto her next statement.

How did you pay at Corner Bakery using PayPal Key? I thought you could only use PayPal Key for online purchases, like your Amazon Fresh/Kroger deliveries. Or did you pay using your PayPal QR code?
Since this stacks with other offers like the 2% dining/drugstore purchases - even though you're paying with PayPal - it suggests that it might even stack with Chase Offers, which give a % or $ back for paying with your Chase card... as long as you can pay using PayPal at that shop.
For example, I currently have a Chase Offer for 10% back at CVS. Since I can pay using my PayPal QR code at CVS, I could theoretically get 1% (base offer) + 2% (drugstores) + 4% (PayPal) + another 10% back via the Chase Offer. That would be pretty phenomenal!
Nice. please let us know if you can get any of the above to stack.
I've noticed that Chase treats quite a few unexpected things as grocery stores, such as vitamins and supplements, for the purpose of the first-year 5% points promo. At least when they're charged with PayPal. And then it stacks with the PayPal quarter for a total of 9% points.

The majority of Walmart around my neighborhood are Walmart Supercenter, not Walmart. Yeap, the same thing happened to me, for some reason, Walmart supercenter coded differently and only earned 1%, already called and receive the 4% and the other 1% will not show up until the next statement.
Forget the hassle from Walmart, if you are into Visa gift cards, say "$500" you can go to your local CVS store and use the Paypal app for any in-store purchase. Good luck!

I have a Paypal account, but my mother doesn't.
She'll probably buy a couple of physical Walmart gift cards to use next year and to give as gifts this holiday season.
Have you purchased the $500 VISA gift cards using the Paypal app?
I have used the Paypal app to buy small denomination gift cards only.

Chase Offers are separate from the quarterly cashback categories.
In August, there was a 10% Chase Offer for Wegmans, a grocery chain, for up to $7 cashback.
I bought a $500 VISA gift card with $5.95 fee for a total of $505.95.
I got 4554 points (= $45.54) and an automatic $7 statement credit.
I got 9% because Q3 was grocery stores and because I was still in first year with Flex where grocery stores got 5%
It was sweet!

Yes, I have, just two hours ago in-store using Paypal app at the cashier for $500 visa gift card, not Paypal Key, till this day I don't know what Paypal Key is.

Thanks.
I plan on maximizing the Freedom Flex with Paypal with the Top Spend category offer ( https://creditcards.chase.com/fre...spendoffer ) .
At the least I will get 7%. At the best I may get 11%.

That's what I just used the Freedom Flex which offers 3% from drug store purchases but I am not sure if they can combine with the 5% Paypal quarterly bonus point?

It will.
Someone posted on another website that it stacks.
You get 7% total.
The bigger question is if it also stacks with the Top Spend Offer : https://creditcards.chase.com/fre...spendoffer
to give you 11% or does Chase switch out the drugstores for the Top Spend.
