Why does the title say "select customers"? This is the standard feature for everyone with these cards. Rotating categories.

these days you can buy any gift card to anywhere or even a visa prepaid credit card which you can use anywhere. But for 5% I don't know if it's totally worth it for many things. You lose all the credit card benefits like extended warranty, the ability to chargeback. (And if you're me then you might lose the cards)

Not eligible for Paypal Key. I tried to set up Paypal with Samsung Pay but it looks like it requires a bank/debit card and will not utilize the Chase Freedom.

Ha! I forgot that Walmart was also part of the 5% category this quarter and used PayPal for a Walmart (online) purchase. Out of curiosity, what are the advantages and disadvantages of using PayPal vs a credit card directly when both qualify for the same CB (e.g., 5% in this case)?

Same here. All my purchases using Paypal key have earned the extra 4 points. Amounts have varied from ~$10 to $250.

The best return seems to be to buy gift cards for wherever you shop at CVS and get 1 (base) + 2 (drugstores) + 4 (Paypal) = 7 points per dollar spent. Amazon gift cards seem like a no-brainer, especially ahead of black Friday.

I use Paypal to donate to charities at this time of the year.
Most of them use Paypal.

Finally got a response and they manually added the bonus points to my account without issue after I provided the PayPal receipts showing the charge. So it doesn't seem that they blocked the key method, but maybe something about larger purchases causes it to fail? My purchase was a bit over $500. As a bonus for having to work for the points, it seems the manually adjusted points did not get added to my quarterly max!

Certain credit cards have built in price protection or insurance benefits when goods are purchased directly with their credit cards. In that case, I'd choose to pay with credit card rather than through Paypal.
