I could wax poetically for ages about this game. I played half life 1 when I was 6 years old and it changed gaming for me forever, I was spoiled by having my first video games as a kid be Doom and Half Life. It has remained my favorite franchise my entire life, playing every single game at least 100 times through from beginning to end. I got a oculus just to play Alyx. There is a reason such a large undertaking was done on this game. The people who made it was a true passion project, a labor of love. Small details hidden throughout the game give a nod to lifelong fans who have waited pretty much their entire lives to dive back into black mesa with updated graphics all over again. I like the changes they made to xen, it really feels like an alien world with rich and complex ecosystems (unlike the vaccum void that was the original xen). If you've never played half life, this is the way to start. If you have played it, this should already be in your library. It's a great game from beginning to end for less than the price of a combo meal. I'd buy it again if I could.

Entire remake. It's fantastic and a steal at this price.

Great game, but the final level interloper was not enjoyable. Can't complain for the price as the other levels were fun. But phew that interloper was repetitive, bad graphics, and boring. Really hated it.

You're were a talented kid. I just played this for the first time at 30 and had more than a few frustrating spots.

I got a free copy of Half Life 2 included with a Radeon graphics card once released. It was time to upgrade the video card before the game was ever released. I don't think there has ever been a game that missed its target release date like HL2.

I'm embarrassed to say that the only way I could enjoy the first Half Life was to enable God Mode and go nuts. I'll admit, I didn't play it until years later after other fps games were out, so I wasn't in the "this is revolutionary" group.

That being said, I adored Half Life 2 on PS3.

Heard this game was great and went to go buy it. Steam said I already owned it. At some point I bought it and haven't played it! I should plan to sometime.

Bought this at full price (the original game too) and it's well worth it. For $5 it's an easy recommend to basically anyone that likes video games.
