  • How Trade-In Works:
    1. Calculate your trade-in phone's value
    2. Buy your new phone online
    3. Complete your new phone purchase online and activate your phone on the carrier's network (Best Buy will help with all that.)
    4. Pick up your new phone in one of our stores

    6. Best Buy will take your trade-in's value off the cost of your new phone.
      • Trade-in value is calculated to represent a working phone that turns on and does not have a cracked or broken screen. Your phone will be evaluated when you trade it in to validate that it meets all requirements.
      • Your order must be picked up from a store to complete your trade-in and apply its value to your new phone purchase.

just picked up my iphone 13 pro max blue 128gb and here is the entire process:
Im upgrading / trading my iphone 11 pro max .
Pre-ordered yesterday 09/23/2021 around 10 AM.
got a text an email this morning saying its ready to pick up.( was kinda surprised about this , but ig because this best buy has less people preordered , or got more stock , im in missouri)
I backed up my old phone to my computer . and reset the phone.
Got to best buy( I was one of the first 3 people there so i got help right away) , the guy asked me for my order number and name, then told me to get with a lady.
the entire pick up was about 15 mins, she asked for my id , then my old phone, she spent most of the time input stuff into the system. I confirmed on the machine my info is correct. she handed me the new iphone new in box with a sim card on top. I asked if she need to activate the phone or anything and she said no , when i put in the phone it should activate it self. got the phone and the receipt , now im heading home.
She didnt open the new phone box at all , she didnt ask if I need to transfer my old phone data to the new phone ( might be she noticed my old phone got reset)

iPhone 13/pro is the weakest upgrade.
Only do it if you have a iPhone 8 or below.
Not worth $700/800 after all the hassle that you have to go through.
Your XR should be good through iPhone 14

For those who keeps asking… this works on whatever Tmobile plan you're currently on (i'm on select simple) When you use the upgrade option, this doesn't upgrade your plan. When you're at order details after check out, it states TMBO KEEP EXISTING PLAN as part of order.

I also have multiple iphones to trade in, iPhone 6+ ($140 + 100) and iphone 8 ($200 + $100) Was able to use the same line to purchase the upgrade (no rejection or refund email as of now). Hope this helps.

I did this 24 hr ago, it was a smooth process, I traded in my 8 plus for it.
T-Mobile won't be charging anything for the device later on right? can we get the phone unlocked after contacting T-Mobile after 40 days of activation as the phone has been paid upfront?

Not sure, here's what rep told me via chat: "Thank you for your patiently waiting, to set your proper expectation as per picture you share with me the $500 is the Fair market value for the trade-in phone of iPhone 12 pro MAX. and you will get up to $500 off the Apple iPhone 13, iPhone 13 Pro, iPhone 13 Pro Max, iPhone 13 mini, iPhone 12, iPhone 12 Pro, iPhone 12 Pro Max or iPhone 12 mini (via one-time trade-in credit and Recurring Device Credit) when you purchase it on Installment Plan, and trade-in a qualifying phone."
It's $500 max, so you're getting the max of $500 total. I just ran through a mock upgrade on T-Mobile's website. You're not getting $500 + extra trade in value.

I upgraded through Best Buy instead. I got $800 (instant trade in) there for my 12 Pro instead of $500 max thru T-Mobile.

I just realized there are 2 active threads on this. Anyway, I was trying a test order through Apple so I can compare final cost vs Tmobile. I backed out when Apple showed I still have EIP on the line (which I plan on paying off). Now when I go back to Bestbuy and try to order, I no longer receive the verification text.

Tried to opt-out and in of Bestbuy text messaging service but still no go.

I assume the reason is my number is tied up with Apple's system now. Anybody now how to fix this?

Strangely, Sprint customers are now disqualified from all deals and promotions. How the tables have turned, T-Mobile was too cheap and didn't want anyone making money except their own stores so they pulled all their products from every big box, and now they're back in Best Buy because they inherited Sprint's retailer contracts, they turn around and ban actual Sprint customers from getting any deals on old Sprint plans so to force us off our old plans and onto shittier T-Mobile plans in an end run to defeat their merger guarantees to the FCC and states.

T-Mobile is by the far the most dishonest, vile, and consumer-hostile carrier there is in the US.

No brainer to trade in a iPhone 12mini for a 13mini. Paid 69.99 + tax as a balance. 69.99 + tax more than covers my one year depreciation

You'll save $100 total off retail, which is still a good deal for a new iPhone. If you do a trade in, you'll receive the regular trade in value and an extra +$100 over it.

im not buying 13 il buy the 14 that's what i did with iphone11 i skipped and waited for the 12 people had high hopes that the 11 would have 5 G the 14 will be even better, the increased battery life is to make up for the 120hz screen No other reason otherwise apple would have kept it the same

OK, I had Bestbuy can't upgrade this Tmobile account error for few times, tried 2 numbers same error.

I checked if I have any balance by dialing *729, apparently I do, so I paid for it, and somehow I can proceed with the Tmobile verification right after.

So, might worth a try

Just an FYI for anyone trading in a XS that's not on the Magenta Max or other qualifying plans for the bigger discount:

Basically the deciding factors between going with either BB or T-Mobile will come down to two things:

1. Save an extra $20 (or more depending on tax in your area) with promotional trade-in with BB ($420) vs T-Mobile ($400)
2. Do you prefer to pay one lump sum through BB after the promo or receive a one-time bill credit and pay the remaining balance over 30 months with T-Mobile?

Hope this helps anyone trying to decide between the two promos.

You traded in 2 phones for 1 upgrade? Or 2 phones for 2 upgrades?
