  • How Trade-In Works:
    1. Calculate your trade-in phone's value
    2. Buy your new phone online
    3. Complete your new phone purchase online and activate your phone on the carrier's network (Best Buy will help with all that.)
    4. Pick up your new phone in one of our stores
    5. Bring your trade-in phone with you when you pick up your new one. Best Buy will check to make sure you're trading in the same phone you told them about online and check for any damage that might make your trade-in ineligible for the promotion.
    6. Best Buy will take your trade-in's value off the cost of your new phone.
      • Trade-in value is calculated to represent a working phone that turns on and does not have a cracked or broken screen. Your phone will be evaluated when you trade it in to validate that it meets all requirements.
      • Your order must be picked up from a store to complete your trade-in and apply its value to your new phone purchase.

just picked up my iphone 13 pro max blue 128gb and here is the entire process:
Im upgrading / trading my iphone 11 pro max .
Pre-ordered yesterday 09/23/2021 around 10 AM.
got a text an email this morning saying its ready to pick up.( was kinda surprised about this , but ig because this best buy has less people preordered , or got more stock , im in missouri)
I backed up my old phone to my computer . and reset the phone.
Got to best buy( I was one of the first 3 people there so i got help right away) , the guy asked me for my order number and name, then told me to get with a lady.
the entire pick up was about 15 mins, she asked for my id , then my old phone, she spent most of the time input stuff into the system. I confirmed on the machine my info is correct. she handed me the new iphone new in box with a sim card on top. I asked if she need to activate the phone or anything and she said no , when i put in the phone it should activate it self. got the phone and the receipt , now im heading home.
She didnt open the new phone box at all , she didnt ask if I need to transfer my old phone data to the new phone ( might be she noticed my old phone got reset)

iPhone 13/pro is the weakest upgrade.
Only do it if you have a iPhone 8 or below.
Not worth $700/800 after all the hassle that you have to go through.
Your XR should be good through iPhone 14

Good idea, wouldn't you have to give up your old phone when pick up the 13 at BB?
BB usually give you a week to pick up. That should buy you enough time to figure out other possible better deals.

So let me make sure I get this right - for iPhone 12 trade in, this Best Buy deal is almost identical to the Apple deal (Apple giving $530 versus Best Buy giving $520), except with Apple you are getting $200 (non-magenta max) off as 24 month T-Mobile credit, versus with Best Buy a one time thing ($100 off MSRP plus $100 more towards trade-in).

If Best Buy keeps giving me a hard time then I am tempted to go directly with Apple. The thing is currently I have RDC on my lines with no EIP. I chatted T-Mobile and was told that credits can stack if I do the Apple promotion, but there are many data points online saying they lost old RDC.

Just to be sure you got this right, as I figure it Best Buy will sell you the iPhone 13 (on T-Mobile) for $100 less then Apple (on T-Mobile) and give you $620 for your iPhone 12. Apple only gives you $530. The difference ends up being $10.00. With BB you are not locked in for 26 months - 2 month delay and 24 monthly credits. Worth $10 IMHO.

14 probably won't be a major upgrade either. 6/7/8 were the same design, X,XS,11 we're the same design. 12/13/14 are likely of the same design. While it's possible that a folding version of iPhone comes out next year, it's pretty unlikely because Apple probably won't be able to make the perfect folding phone until a later time and the advantage might not be great enough for a price tag of closer to $2,000. Perfection is what apple generally targets.

I've heard (rumors) that in 14 notch will go away and becomes a punch hole or under screen one and that the back cameras will be all flat. Also they might have always on display like Androids. But who knows!

To upgrade 12PRO to 13PRO costs only $99.99 plus tax on $99.99. Total $107 for me. To upgrade to the 13 PRO MAX costs $100 more total will be like $214.

Need some advise here. Is the 13 Pro Max worth the $100 difference?

Thinking the same. With new cameras and a new screen, I'd think they'd run this for atleast another generation

Those are possible. But still minor upgrades in my opinion and the overall shape/size/design probably won't change next year. Don't see how those change how I use the phone (xs max was a big jump in screen size and that changes how the phone is used). The only way to increase screen size significantly again is folding. Another change would make a difference to me would be increase optical telephoto from 3x to 6x.

The only thing changes that would be if folding screen phone suddenly becomes the hottest thing. I haven't met anyone with a folding screen phone and not seeing Apple pressured enough to come out with that next year.

After you confirm your trade-in it'll tell you the cost. You can then click on the breakdown of the cost and itll tell you the price plus $100 promo. For iphone xr 64, it's $315. It's $215 value (Apple values it at $230) + $100 promo.
What's dumb is that I was offered the same trade-in amount for an iPhone XR w/ 128gbs of storage. You'd think the extra storage would impact the trade-in value, but I guess not…

I'm in a similar situation
Have a 12 pro to trade, thinking of the 13 pro max
Never really used a pro max before but this deal is a bit too good to pass up.
