just picked up my iphone 13 pro max blue 128gb and here is the entire process:
Im upgrading / trading my iphone 11 pro max .
Pre-ordered yesterday 09/23/2021 around 10 AM.
got a text an email this morning saying its ready to pick up.( was kinda surprised about this , but ig because this best buy has less people preordered , or got more stock , im in missouri)
I backed up my old phone to my computer . and reset the phone.
Got to best buy( I was one of the first 3 people there so i got help right away) , the guy asked me for my order number and name, then told me to get with a lady.
the entire pick up was about 15 mins, she asked for my id , then my old phone, she spent most of the time input stuff into the system. I confirmed on the machine my info is correct. she handed me the new iphone new in box with a sim card on top. I asked if she need to activate the phone or anything and she said no , when i put in the phone it should activate it self. got the phone and the receipt , now im heading home.
She didnt open the new phone box at all , she didnt ask if I need to transfer my old phone data to the new phone ( might be she noticed my old phone got reset)

iPhone 13/pro is the weakest upgrade.
Only do it if you have a iPhone 8 or below.
Not worth $700/800 after all the hassle that you have to go through.
Your XR should be good through iPhone 14

Did they ask or input the phone number you used to upgrade at all when you went to trade and pickup?

I ask because the phone number that I used was a temporary number sent by T-Mobile, and I stupidly ported in my own number into the line before picking up. I fear they'll run into some account errors.
Nope. She didn't ask anything about the number that I used to trade in. But the number did show up on top of their screen. Once she pulled up the order #, basically just trade-in phone info, your personal info, and the new phone info and I was out the door within 15 mins once they started the process.

Picked up two 13s at the St. John's bb in Jacksonville, FL, today at about noon. It's in a BIG shopping center, but there weren't many customers there and I was seen within a few minutes. (I had received the "taking longer" emails for both orders last night, but then received two "order ready" emails at opening time this morning.) The trade ins (12 pro and 7) went fine, but the guy was concerned that the 12 pro trade in was more than $675 since his screen didn't show the $125 bump, but the more experienced guy said just put the order through and blah blah. Swung by the nearby Apple store planning to return the 13 I bought direct, but there was a crowd outside and I heard there was a 2 hour wait, so I'll do it by mail. Went to return the wife's 12 pro at Costco and the only guy there was twiddling his thumbs. I had braced myself for a much longer day.
still waiting for the pickup email from the same store.. when did u order ? i did it on sep 22...but has been struck in progress for 3 days.

Debating on whether I should trade in my XS 64 gb for a 13pro. My XS is a hand me down from my wife, who upgraded to 12pro last year. My phone is generally ok, but the battery capacity" has been at "82%" for over a year, which I think is partly because my wife would run it down to 0% frequently. For my use, I can't get through a day without needing to charge.

It comes out to about $580 after trade-in, not terrible but not cheap either.

Would much rather not have to deal with monnthly credits and stuff like that as with T-Mobile deals.
We were in the same boat. Two XS 64's both nearing 80%. Had them listed but not much interest until I dropped it to just under $400 - at most the resale value is maybe $40-$60 more than the trade in value. Plus anything at 80% or close is a harder sell; so we decided to do two trade in's to a 13 128 and a 13 mini 128. With the $100 off each, less taxes, and 4% CB total plus not having to sell two old XS's, we are happy with our decision! We also didn't want any monthly credits etc (even though I can't see us ever leaving tmo, just would much rather not.)

The 13 is PERFECT - slight bit smaller form than the 11 which is just right for my hand, noticeably snappier and smoother than my 11. So far so good!

Miami trade in experience:

Ordered 13 128 Starlight on the 18th, got the pickup email around 5pm yesterday.

First dude was nice but a new hire and didn't know they took traded phones Smilie When he said "just return the phone within a week" I realized. He got the mobile manager who took over; said the store was busier in the morning but by 5pm it was just me and one other person waiting. I ordered 2, but picked up one - they said they hold these orders for 1 week.

Verified icloud logged out and condition on the XS trade in

Verified my # (it wasn't the primary # but the one I used for the order) - have so far done 3 "upgrade" orders with the same # so not sure how much this matters.

Asked basic stuff like address, email, took fingerprint, had me sign a few things, and entered the phone as "perfect condition" Smilie

Offered to set up the sim or said I could take it sealed which I chose to do.

Printed receipt only said the base trade in value NOT the $100 - my card still shows the original amount as pending, will confirm later on but don't think that matters - they just don't list the deal on that paper.

Walked out about 15 minutes after I arrived, pretty easy.

Popped my old SIM in and worked right away (going to swap to the new SIM today but was in a rush last night)

The only thing I need to work on is my AC LT not showing up in device settings. It does show on my apple account and in the Apple support app; and I got an email a few hours later from Best Buy all about the plan etc. Just doesn't show on the phone itself for some reason.

The 13 is a noticeable improvement over the 11. Like the slightly small size better (those with smaller hands will like the better control) Easy setup from itunes, everything runs smoothly, and looks great.

LOVE the Starlight color. Subtle, creamy white - anyone who like a minimal or clean aesthetic will love this. Got a clear Spigen hybrid case + glass for now which fits perfectly and isn't bulky

Side note: Other person waiting for help was rude, impatient, condescending and just a nasty person to the store employee. I apologized for him as he stormed off (he literally only had me in front of him and we were almost done.) The poor guy said yes, tons of phone pickup customers are like that, and its frustrating. I told him he was great, take his time, commended him to the manager and thanked him 10 x before I left. Jokes with him about the days of just having beepers and corded house phones attached to the wall. His smile looked like I made his day.

It costs nothing to be kind, and sometimes people need that kindness more than you know. A little bit can go a long way. Thanks for coming to my Ted talk Smilie

Just got back from BB. No juice. Spent 1.5 hours yesterday driving and waiting until they said they had some known system error for T-Mobile upgrades. They called me this morning and confirmed that both phones (min and pro) are ready for pickup and everything is good to go. I was told the same story after wasting 1.5 today. I am keeping tab on this...

And only 1 of the phones was "ready." The silver pro was not there; they saw someone else with the same last name and assumed it was me. I was rather speechless...
Could it be just a location problem. I picked up my 13 max today in GA around 10am without any problem. There were couple people after me also came in to pickup theirs.

For the "name" thing, it was printed with first and last name in very big letters and stuck to the phone box. Wonder the person that input the personal info didn't catch that.

I am somewhat relieved it's not only me. Same deal in my situation... I pre ordered iphone 13 pro with trade-in promo upgrade t-mobile. Went into the store and they were having system issues, left and waiting half the day with no phone call back and I just decided to show up... was turned right back around where the guy in the black shirt, who I presume is the department supervisor, said the issue had not been resolved yet and that I probably need to come back tomorrow (today). For a little bit there, I thought they may have been jerking me around, especially since some of the posts here indicate that they didn't even need to do a new sim activation when they picked up.

Sigh... will just need to wait around I suppose. It really doesn't help that all local bestbuy numbers are now routed to a call center and the call center people have no means to directly contact the local stores. BB is going down the pooper and it seems like they don't care. Wouldn't be surprised if in the next couple years they follow Fry's, Circuit City etc...

Don't go. I already went through that just now, even though they called me this morning confirming that everything was ready.
Firstly, sorry about your ordeal. I hope they sort it out.
But from the experience I had yesterday, it's clear that Best Buy, reps and managers included give 0 F's about causing the inconveniences.

This is my first Best Buy mobile purchase and will likely be the last.

I am curious to know what is the success rate of the iphone SE trade in $858 value.

I want to try it out but I am not sure if BB will honor it

I ordered 256gb pro max on 22nd. Still nothing from them. There's a reason I call them "Worst Buy"

I guess from what others that went to the store already on this thread, success rate so far is zero percent.

Just a heads up. Best Buy may not properly activate your phone.

I had issues trying to add AppleCare+ on my phone. Also had issues with my SIM card and my line. Both required calls to Apple and T-Mobile.

Took about an hr of my time yesterday to resolve.

Anyone buying the iPhone 13 Pro Silicon Case and the Leather Wallet?
I also had an issue with my SIM card as well. I specifically asked the rep if it l the sim was going to be activated on my phone number that I told him about. He said that it will be active based off the phone I had traded in. Either way, it wasn't a big deal and I was able to put the new sim info on the Tmobile site and it was activated. The rep that gave me the phone was also quick.

Has anyone updated via eSIM?

I recall when I upgraded from my XS to 12 Pro, the eSIM was automatically updated upon restoring from iCloud backup. Is it possible here, or do we need to use their provided SIM?

What issue did you have exactly? Having an ALLT issue, it shows on my apple.com account and in the Apple Service app but NOT on the device. Chat had no idea what I was talking about lol
