if you are not receiving t-mobile verification code - text 332211 and 22891 the code "help" to opt-in for text messages and then try again to get code, it should work!*
* If you get only "Service access denied." after texting HELP to those short codes contact T-Force on Twitter (@TMobileHelp [twitter.com]) and ask them to enable the short codes, for example:
"Hi! Can you check whether short codes are enabled on my lines? I tried to perform an iPhone upgrade through Best Buy but I don't receive the verification text (probably short codes 332211, 22891, 66803) after entering my number and last digits of my social. Many thanks!"
Possible 5% cashback with US Cash+ Visa credit card. Select electronics category.
Alternative scenario, the math for existing T-Mobile customers, not switching carriers or getting a Max plan:
1. Apple:
13 Pro $999
12 Pro trade credit $640
Net w/o tax $359
$200 in credits over 24 months
Net $159.00
2. T-Mo Best Buy
13 Pro $899
12 Pro trade credit $800
Net w/o tax $99
For some, paying less now and in total, plus not worrying about the credits, is worth it.
Random T-Mobile numbers are getting this error message after entering phone number and SSN. "We're sorry, there was an issue processing your request. Please try again later." This is also happening on Apple's websites to those same numbers having the issues. T-Mobile is trying to fix the issue, but does not have an ETA.
So did some math and realized it's not really any great deal. (Good deal so far but you find better deals later if you are no in a hurry).
Here is the comparison: Let's say you have 12 Pro Max and wan to go to 13 Pro Max
1. Apple:
12 Pro Max Apple trade in $790.
13 Pro Max unlocked: $1099
Net w/o any taxes: $309
2. T-mo Best Buy:
12 Pro Max BB trade in $875.
13 Pro Max unlocked: $1000
Select Monthly Plan (min value) = $65 * 2 = $130 (You need to keep at least for 2 billing cycles to get it unlocked - 40 days as per the terms)
Let's say you pay Mint Mobile or some other prepaid ($20 monthly), you are paying extra to Tmo = 130 - 40 = $90
Net w/o any taxes: $215
Comparing to Apple trade in for an unlocked phone outright, you are saving about $95.
Visible vs. Best Buy/T-Mobile Deals
iPhone 13 Pro 128GB: $989 vs. $899
iPhone 12 Pro Trade In Credit: $(640) [Apple] vs $(800)
Service Cost during Lock Period: $55 for 3 months [incl. $5 first month] vs. $120 for 2 months [Essentials plan]
Other Intangibles: $(299) vs. $0
Total Net: $105 vs. $219
Total Cash Out: $1,044 vs. $379

Im upgrading / trading my iphone 11 pro max .
Pre-ordered yesterday 09/23/2021 around 10 AM.
got a text an email this morning saying its ready to pick up.( was kinda surprised about this , but ig because this best buy has less people preordered , or got more stock , im in missouri)
I backed up my old phone to my computer . and reset the phone.
Got to best buy( I was one of the first 3 people there so i got help right away) , the guy asked me for my order number and name, then told me to get with a lady.
the entire pick up was about 15 mins, she asked for my id , then my old phone, she spent most of the time input stuff into the system. I confirmed on the machine my info is correct. she handed me the new iphone new in box with a sim card on top. I asked if she need to activate the phone or anything and she said no , when i put in the phone it should activate it self. got the phone and the receipt , now im heading home.
She didnt open the new phone box at all , she didnt ask if I need to transfer my old phone data to the new phone ( might be she noticed my old phone got reset)
Only do it if you have a iPhone 8 or below.
Not worth $700/800 after all the hassle that you have to go through.
Your XR should be good through iPhone 14

I ask because the phone number that I used was a temporary number sent by T-Mobile, and I stupidly ported in my own number into the line before picking up. I fear they'll run into some account errors.
It comes out to about $580 after trade-in, not terrible but not cheap either.
Would much rather not have to deal with monnthly credits and stuff like that as with T-Mobile deals.
The 13 is PERFECT - slight bit smaller form than the 11 which is just right for my hand, noticeably snappier and smoother than my 11. So far so good!
Ordered 13 128 Starlight on the 18th, got the pickup email around 5pm yesterday.
First dude was nice but a new hire and didn't know they took traded phones
Verified icloud logged out and condition on the XS trade in
Verified my # (it wasn't the primary # but the one I used for the order) - have so far done 3 "upgrade" orders with the same # so not sure how much this matters.
Asked basic stuff like address, email, took fingerprint, had me sign a few things, and entered the phone as "perfect condition"
Offered to set up the sim or said I could take it sealed which I chose to do.
Printed receipt only said the base trade in value NOT the $100 - my card still shows the original amount as pending, will confirm later on but don't think that matters - they just don't list the deal on that paper.
Walked out about 15 minutes after I arrived, pretty easy.
Popped my old SIM in and worked right away (going to swap to the new SIM today but was in a rush last night)
The only thing I need to work on is my AC LT not showing up in device settings. It does show on my apple account and in the Apple support app; and I got an email a few hours later from Best Buy all about the plan etc. Just doesn't show on the phone itself for some reason.
The 13 is a noticeable improvement over the 11. Like the slightly small size better (those with smaller hands will like the better control) Easy setup from itunes, everything runs smoothly, and looks great.
LOVE the Starlight color. Subtle, creamy white - anyone who like a minimal or clean aesthetic will love this. Got a clear Spigen hybrid case + glass for now which fits perfectly and isn't bulky
Side note: Other person waiting for help was rude, impatient, condescending and just a nasty person to the store employee. I apologized for him as he stormed off (he literally only had me in front of him and we were almost done.) The poor guy said yes, tons of phone pickup customers are like that, and its frustrating. I told him he was great, take his time, commended him to the manager and thanked him 10 x before I left. Jokes with him about the days of just having beepers and corded house phones attached to the wall. His smile looked like I made his day.
It costs nothing to be kind, and sometimes people need that kindness more than you know. A little bit can go a long way. Thanks for coming to my Ted talk
And only 1 of the phones was "ready." The silver pro was not there; they saw someone else with the same last name and assumed it was me. I was rather speechless...
For the "name" thing, it was printed with first and last name in very big letters and stuck to the phone box. Wonder the person that input the personal info didn't catch that.

Sigh... will just need to wait around I suppose. It really doesn't help that all local bestbuy numbers are now routed to a call center and the call center people have no means to directly contact the local stores. BB is going down the pooper and it seems like they don't care. Wouldn't be surprised if in the next couple years they follow Fry's, Circuit City etc...
But from the experience I had yesterday, it's clear that Best Buy, reps and managers included give 0 F's about causing the inconveniences.
This is my first Best Buy mobile purchase and will likely be the last.
I want to try it out but I am not sure if BB will honor it

I had issues trying to add AppleCare+ on my phone. Also had issues with my SIM card and my line. Both required calls to Apple and T-Mobile.
Took about an hr of my time yesterday to resolve.
Anyone buying the iPhone 13 Pro Silicon Case and the Leather Wallet?
I recall when I upgraded from my XS to 12 Pro, the eSIM was automatically updated upon restoring from iCloud backup. Is it possible here, or do we need to use their provided SIM?
