just picked up my iphone 13 pro max blue 128gb and here is the entire process:
Im upgrading / trading my iphone 11 pro max .
Pre-ordered yesterday 09/23/2021 around 10 AM.
got a text an email this morning saying its ready to pick up.( was kinda surprised about this , but ig because this best buy has less people preordered , or got more stock , im in missouri)
I backed up my old phone to my computer . and reset the phone.
Got to best buy( I was one of the first 3 people there so i got help right away) , the guy asked me for my order number and name, then told me to get with a lady.
the entire pick up was about 15 mins, she asked for my id , then my old phone, she spent most of the time input stuff into the system. I confirmed on the machine my info is correct. she handed me the new iphone new in box with a sim card on top. I asked if she need to activate the phone or anything and she said no , when i put in the phone it should activate it self. got the phone and the receipt , now im heading home.
She didnt open the new phone box at all , she didnt ask if I need to transfer my old phone data to the new phone ( might be she noticed my old phone got reset)

iPhone 13/pro is the weakest upgrade.
Only do it if you have a iPhone 8 or below.
Not worth $700/800 after all the hassle that you have to go through.
Your XR should be good through iPhone 14

Lots of people in the same position. What did your email say? Mine was "We've received your order but it's not quite ready". There are different emails from Best Buy. One mentions delay I think. I'm wondering if some orders will be cancelled if it goes a while.

thats was the status right after i placed the order. it then updated to "We'll email you when it's ready for pickup." friday morning. No delayed email either

We were in the same boat. Two XS 64's both nearing 80%. Had them listed but not much interest until I dropped it to just under $400 - at most the resale value is maybe $40-$60 more than the trade in value. Plus anything at 80% or close is a harder sell; so we decided to do two trade in's to a 13 128 and a 13 mini 128. With the $100 off each, less taxes, and 4% CB total plus not having to sell two old XS's, we are happy with our decision! We also didn't want any monthly credits etc (even though I can't see us ever leaving tmo, just would much rather not.)

The 13 is PERFECT - slight bit smaller form than the 11 which is just right for my hand, noticeably snappier and smoother than my 11. So far so good!
Glad to hear it's been a great experience! I will probably pull the trigger soon also. I didn't realize the Xs was selling for so low on the market - I assumed because Apple products have high resale value, it would still be $400-500, but all the typical sites are showing low - mid $200s, so BB's buyback offer is very reasonable.

Finally placed order 🙌 trading in 8+ at $260 + $100 bb discount. Good deal
How did you an place order? I've been trying to place a new T-mobile online order today with a trade in but it only lets me get to the page where T-mobile does a credit check and once I submit my info it says "Connecting to T-mobile" after about 5-10 seconds it times out and displays a message on the top "Please try again we had an issue, but it should be fixed now." If I attempt it again, it does the same loop. Not sure if anyone is having the same issue.

Your email from Best Buy mentions Canceled by Oct 6? I don't mind waiting either. But if by chance any orders cancel, this deal may be over with so we could miss out. Hope not of course.

Not the smoothest release from Best Buy. Sounds like Tmobile fumbled as well.

Worry not there will be better deals coming along if not the same.

Similar story - got the come pick up email a day late. Got in store and they couldn't activate the sim. She tried to see if she could create a new order for the same price but couldn't get anywhere near it. I was told to come back later. She felt terrible and actually gave me her number to text tomorrow to see if it's resolved before I come back.
At least that's a somewhat better resolution and an apologetic response. Mine told me to talk to the manager, the manager told me to leave and come back another day or cancel the order. I don't mind those options but it was more of the condescending manner and unapologetic tone they were presented in that ticked me off.

Oh well, I'll just ride it out and see how things progress. Got till the 30th to pickup.

I reread my delayed email and noticed it says "It's unusual, but if your item(s) aren't available by Friday, October 8, 2021, we'll cancel the item(s) and notify you by email"

I hope that doesn't happen. I'm was happy with the deal for my old XS Max

My best guess from everything I've read - the SIM bar codes and number below have some letters on them. They need to manually input the number without the letters. This is probably non-standard workflow, it's the weekend, no 'real' managers are working and this is really a training issue. I don't blame the hourly employees just doing what they are told to (although a manager being a jerk isn't excuse able).

I ordered two 13s on the 21st. Pink is still in progress, but midnight was available yesterday. Had the t-mobile trade-in problem, but my store was great about the hassles, apologized for delay, offered me a free case of my choosing and screen protector for the wait. I hadn't complained or anything either. Couldn't have been more pleased with the service.

I had a very good pick up experience at Best Buy yesterday. I had ordered 3 upgrades (two 13 Pro Sierra Blue and a Red 13) online on the 19th. I had trade ins for all three lines (all iPhone 12 family). I got an email and text from Best Buy just before midnight on the 23rd saying that my order was ready to be picked up. I went there around 4PM. Had to wait for 15 minutes before they could find additional help to work with me. I had to show them my ID, and enter the last 4 digits of my SSN for verification (no finger printing like some others said in this forum). The gentleman then took about 15 minutes to enter the info for all three lines on his computer, and once done had me reset and erase all three trade ins. At this point I was expecting to be given the new phones and the sim cards and let us leave, but he went ahead and called T-mobile to activate all lines. From that point it took him about two hours to get all lines activated since they ran into issues with T-mobile wanting to verify my account. T-mobile wanted to send a one time code to my phone for verification, but that phone was already reset, and the new phone we are trying to activate is where the code will try to come! I also had no access to my T-mobile account since my trade in phone was reset. And using email for verifications did not work too since two factor authentication was turned on on my gmail and my second device was home (hindsight, I should have taken my iPad with me). After trying several options with T-mobile they decided to go to the back of the store to find my trade in, set it up again, verify the old sim was still active (T-mobile insisted it will be, and it was), and receive the code on the old phone. Once they had the code they were able to activate all three lines. Throughout the entire process, the Best Buy team was extremely helpful. At one point I was asking them to just let me leave so I can resolve this with T-Force (the person helping me was nearing his end of shift, and I felt bad keeping him late to resolve my first world problems), but they insisted that they would rather resolve everything there so I can walk out there with a peace of mind that everything works. Once I was home, I was able to get on T-Mobile's website and confirm that all devices were showing up on my account, and that the plan was untouched as many on this forum mentioned (thank you community for that).

placed an order last night for the 13 pro since the 13 pro max is sold out all around Northern NJ
Have the red se for the high value.
Went today after receiving the email that it was ready.
Rep said to come back next week, that they were having issues.
Not holding my breath here but hope they will go through with the deal.
