      • Trade-in value is calculated to represent a working phone that turns on and does not have a cracked or broken screen. Your phone will be evaluated when you trade it in to validate that it meets all requirements.
      • Your order must be picked up from a store to complete your trade-in and apply its value to your new phone purchase.

just picked up my iphone 13 pro max blue 128gb and here is the entire process:
Im upgrading / trading my iphone 11 pro max .
Pre-ordered yesterday 09/23/2021 around 10 AM.
got a text an email this morning saying its ready to pick up.( was kinda surprised about this , but ig because this best buy has less people preordered , or got more stock , im in missouri)
I backed up my old phone to my computer . and reset the phone.
Got to best buy( I was one of the first 3 people there so i got help right away) , the guy asked me for my order number and name, then told me to get with a lady.
the entire pick up was about 15 mins, she asked for my id , then my old phone, she spent most of the time input stuff into the system. I confirmed on the machine my info is correct. she handed me the new iphone new in box with a sim card on top. I asked if she need to activate the phone or anything and she said no , when i put in the phone it should activate it self. got the phone and the receipt , now im heading home.
She didnt open the new phone box at all , she didnt ask if I need to transfer my old phone data to the new phone ( might be she noticed my old phone got reset)

iPhone 13/pro is the weakest upgrade.
Only do it if you have a iPhone 8 or below.
Not worth $700/800 after all the hassle that you have to go through.
Your XR should be good through iPhone 14

What happens if that one local backup on your PC/Mac gets corrupted? Now the device is wiped and traded in before you try to restore the backup on the new phone only to find out it won't work. Best practice is don't wipe the old device before making sure the new one is working properly.
Do a full backup on your computer and another one on icloud. On ios 15, you get unlimited temporary storage to transfer to a new phone.

That "planning" requires multiple copies of the backup and a secondary device to test restoring said backup before wiping the device to be traded in. With an IT background, I might be comfortable with that, but it would take much more time than a direct transfer to the new device.

Otherwise, you're gambling that the backup stored on your hard drive 1) was created successfully, 2) does not become corrupt, 3) is on a hard drive that doesn't die before you're able to restore it on the new device.

Sure, that's a rather slim chance but I learned back in elementary school that you don't just rely on saving important files in one place. Especially when that's the backup of all your valuable pictures, messages, etc.
Definitely valid points

That's the tradeoff in this deal. If you need to be "sure" that your data is transferred properly, then this deal is not for you. The free icloud backup is good enough for most. I made a backup on my computer but didn't need to use it. The icloud restore works perfectly fine.

you need to rethink buy 13 pro/max, 13=12s
Hard pass on buying the pro model. Same CPU, and storage. That's all I care about. Maybe if they actually eliminated the notch variable refresh screen would be a nice bonus. Better camera doesn't do it for me.

Actually the Pro models have a faster GPU this year, There isn't much difference between the 12 and 13 besides the smaller notch.

I have the 12PM, so upgrading to the 13PM for $125 for a high refresh screen is definitely worth it for me.

13 PM has larger battery+ efficient A15 BIONIC CPU, dont need worry about power when u r traveling /all day busy business. more beneficial are 120hz and 4K prores shooting~~~

anyone success in unlock with tmobile twitter ?
I submitted through Twitter last night (they were super busy, took about 2.5 hours before getting a reply back). Since the phone is dual sim and i need to use the second sim for work with another carrier, and i paid in full, i asked them to unlock so i could use both sim cards. Asked for receipt (screenshot of order from BB with it showing picked up), i provided both IMEI numbers, and cell number and contact number. CSR submitted and said will take up to 72 business hours; have another 52 hours to go, still showing "SIM Locked" under Carrier Lock and a non-TMobile sim did not activate.

I had an infuriating pickup experience where the guy showed me his screen to confirm picked up, then proceeded to open the package! I thought they just tape the sim to the phone but no they without any warning just ripped the paper packaging apart! The best part is the person using scotch tape to tape it back telling me it's as good as new!

I had a pickup elsewhere where they just taped the sim to the box and sent you off... but clearly not at this location.

Did you get the $858.32 trade in value online for an iPhone SE 64GB white/red, and successfully pick up an iPhone 13 Pro and walk out with it?
Not yet. But I was referring to the iPhone 12 T-Mobile as a Verizon phone. The trade-in was successful, no questions asked

The post you responded to was saying that if you ordered online with that high trade value, the store would adjust the trade value down from $858.32 to $280 and they wouldn't be able to process it, which you claimed was not true. That's why I asked to clarify.

It's probably a glitch in the bestbuy website. The carrier, color, and capacity don't matter at all. Only the model of the phone matters. Just put in another color to get the higher trade-in value. When you trade-in, they will verify the IMEI and pull up the correct trade value.

Lookup the trade-in value on this page.
