    1. Calculate your trade-in phone's value
    2. Buy your new phone online
    3. Complete your new phone purchase online and activate your phone on the carrier's network (Best Buy will help with all that.)
    4. Pick up your new phone in one of our stores

    6. Best Buy will take your trade-in's value off the cost of your new phone.
      • Trade-in value is calculated to represent a working phone that turns on and does not have a cracked or broken screen. Your phone will be evaluated when you trade it in to validate that it meets all requirements.
      • Your order must be picked up from a store to complete your trade-in and apply its value to your new phone purchase.

just picked up my iphone 13 pro max blue 128gb and here is the entire process:
Im upgrading / trading my iphone 11 pro max .
Pre-ordered yesterday 09/23/2021 around 10 AM.
got a text an email this morning saying its ready to pick up.( was kinda surprised about this , but ig because this best buy has less people preordered , or got more stock , im in missouri)
I backed up my old phone to my computer . and reset the phone.
Got to best buy( I was one of the first 3 people there so i got help right away) , the guy asked me for my order number and name, then told me to get with a lady.
the entire pick up was about 15 mins, she asked for my id , then my old phone, she spent most of the time input stuff into the system. I confirmed on the machine my info is correct. she handed me the new iphone new in box with a sim card on top. I asked if she need to activate the phone or anything and she said no , when i put in the phone it should activate it self. got the phone and the receipt , now im heading home.
She didnt open the new phone box at all , she didnt ask if I need to transfer my old phone data to the new phone ( might be she noticed my old phone got reset)

iPhone 13/pro is the weakest upgrade.
Only do it if you have a iPhone 8 or below.
Not worth $700/800 after all the hassle that you have to go through.
Your XR should be good through iPhone 14

Pick up to be done tomorrow - I will need to trade in the phone then and there correct? So best to have everything backed up then when I get there, simply wipe the phone I'm trading in (logging out of iCloud, out of Find my Iphone, etc) and restore to factory settings? Am I missing anything?

They also need your fingerprint, blood type and DNA tissue sample.

Seriously tho, this has been asked over and over again in this thread.

^I believe this is accurate -- However, Best Buy did help me activate the phone and input the new SIM in. I have two other orders that were not activated in store and are currently using old SIM cards. I just requested unlock so will update after 72 hours.
You can always update your new SIM at tmobile.com. Very easy and fast.

Finally solved the Best Buy + T-Mobile trade in fiasco...

The phone was at the online order pickup desk, which they kept routing me to for 4 days straight. The computers at that desk couldn't do the T-Mobile trade in correctly. As a last ditch effort, they sent me to the mobile department. I have no idea why they didn't just do that in the first place. It took the lady at the mobile desk 2 minutes to confirm that she was able to do it. Apparently, I was the first one they were able to get this working with. There were about 30 other sticky notes for other failed T-Mobile pick ups like mine.
After 4 days? Wow that location sounds like a disaster. My Best Buy directed me quickly to the store pickup area and the employee found the order on their racks and told me to follow him to the mobile department. The mobile department then processed my trade in and handed me my new phone and SIM card. In and out in about 15 mins yesterday.

I've been with t-mobile for 14 years. I have bought countless phone from them and their dealers. I always walk out of the store with the sealed boxes and reuse my old SIM card. I bought 5 phones this year including the iPhone 12 & 13. I believe you guys, some reps probably open the phone due to the lack of training.
If I decide to sell the sealed iPhone, will it be locked to T-Mobile in this case? Just wondering if it will still be tied to my account, since I chose the "upgrade option" when purchasing.

It will be locked to whichever carrier sim that first inserted. There was one person that inserted ATT sim first, now it's locked to ATT. Also the phone doesn't tie to your account. I used my brother account to do the upgrade and use the phone on my account. My brother account doesn't have any record of the phone being purchased except BB receipt. It shows the # that I used to do the upgrade.

Not sure how I did this... but when I logged into my sprint account, I saw an option to get an iphone 13 mini for 10 bucks a month for 30 months and then I own the phone after the 30 months. Is anyone else seeing that deal? I guess, technically, I signed up to be a sprint / t-mobile member for 30 more months, but I have such a good deal with them anyway, I figured no big deal there. I have always liked my service. I searched for this deal, but could not find mention of it anywhere. Anyone have any idea how I got this deal? I did agree to send in my old iphone se (2016 version.). That was the only way I was able to get the deal.

Absolutely. The location I went to opened my phone, inserted and activated new sim for me without asking me first. My other two orders were at a different location that knew what they were doing and sent me on my way with my unopened phones that had sims taped onto them. Experience with each location is YMMV.

i went in again today. They got tmobile trade in issues resolved but another problem shows up. Rep said my trade in went through but he can't complete the checkout for my new phone. System won't let him so we had manager came over and even calling their headquarter, nobody knows what the problem is. They already submitted priority ticket for my case and hopefully they can fix it asap. I only have 2 days left from my pickup date after that my order will be cancelled and again manager can't extend it for whatever reason. At least rep was trying his best to help me out. I ended up leaving empty handed

Correct 40 days. Best buy reps don't know sh*t. Most of them are new hires.

That would be nice.
lol I had a similar experience today where I had to teach them how to change the EIN in the database to swap the physical SIM with an eSIM.

This is pretty bad. How hard can it be when other stores have customers in and out in 15 minutes? Best Buy needs better training.

It's not tied to your account and it's lock to the first carrier sim. Just don't resell it as an "unlocked" phone.
