  • How Trade-In Works:
    1. Calculate your trade-in phone's value
    2. Buy your new phone online
    3. Complete your new phone purchase online and activate your phone on the carrier's network (Best Buy will help with all that.)
    4. Pick up your new phone in one of our stores
    5. Bring your trade-in phone with you when you pick up your new one. Best Buy will check to make sure you're trading in the same phone you told them about online and check for any damage that might make your trade-in ineligible for the promotion.
    6. Best Buy will take your trade-in's value off the cost of your new phone.
      • Trade-in value is calculated to represent a working phone that turns on and does not have a cracked or broken screen. Your phone will be evaluated when you trade it in to validate that it meets all requirements.
      • Your order must be picked up from a store to complete your trade-in and apply its value to your new phone purchase.

just picked up my iphone 13 pro max blue 128gb and here is the entire process:
Im upgrading / trading my iphone 11 pro max .
Pre-ordered yesterday 09/23/2021 around 10 AM.
got a text an email this morning saying its ready to pick up.( was kinda surprised about this , but ig because this best buy has less people preordered , or got more stock , im in missouri)
I backed up my old phone to my computer . and reset the phone.
Got to best buy( I was one of the first 3 people there so i got help right away) , the guy asked me for my order number and name, then told me to get with a lady.
the entire pick up was about 15 mins, she asked for my id , then my old phone, she spent most of the time input stuff into the system. I confirmed on the machine my info is correct. she handed me the new iphone new in box with a sim card on top. I asked if she need to activate the phone or anything and she said no , when i put in the phone it should activate it self. got the phone and the receipt , now im heading home.
She didnt open the new phone box at all , she didnt ask if I need to transfer my old phone data to the new phone ( might be she noticed my old phone got reset)

iPhone 13/pro is the weakest upgrade.
Only do it if you have a iPhone 8 or below.
Not worth $700/800 after all the hassle that you have to go through.
Your XR should be good through iPhone 14

T-mobile iphone 13, went pretty well, bought online, traded in at best buy store.

But, they insisted on testing the new phone, which had me sitting there for 45 minutes while they tried to activate it. Finally sent home with it, did 1.5 hour T mobile call back. When I got the call back, took 5 minutes or less to get it up and running.

While well intentioned, if a customer is willing to deal with activation on their own, they should just send you on your way. Oh well, all is good now.

The screen seems clearer with better color than 11PRO, however the 13 PRO is thicker and heavier.

I tried to do a esim activation from old phone to new one.. picked up 13pro and told rep not to activate or open box.. he just scanned phone and sim and I walked home.. then I tried to do a phone to phone transfer with out any sim in 13pro and it won't activate iPhone.. so kept sim that came with it and activated phone.. once the transfer is done, I removed the physical sim and it's good to go with esim.. next step is to get it unlocked
It's because these Best Buy phones lock to the first carrier whose SIM is inserted, so a physical SIM is necessary to at least make the phone usable.

I did exactly this on a SC plan. Worked fine.
If you add a new line, it will add $45 data plan for simple choice family plan. Bestbuy shows no change during the order process, but the data plan will be added to your monthly if you check the new T-Mobile billing details. Good thing is that you can remove the data plan and keep voice only.

I have unlocked iPhone 11, have magenta business 1.0 plan which is being paid by my employer. I don't have pin/ account details to put in.
I was thinking to select option to get a new number but I will not install that new simcard in. Instead I will use that old simcard in new iPhone.

My question is do I have to put the new simcard n pay for activation n plan ?
Or can I keep using old simcard and just trash the new simcard?

If you opt for a new account to purchase, keep in mind it's a hard credit pull. Don't think this is worth that. If you don't mind that, you can cancel the new account but you'll be on the hook for a month of service. You can use another T-Mobile SIM right from the start but do not forget to cancel your new service because that will continue billing you. You cannot avoid the credit pull and service charges if you activate new service to order the phone.

Didn't see it mentioned in the Wiki…if you have a trade in iPhone from a prepaid carrier (Total Wireless for example) are out of luck? I dunno if anyone has tried to trade on in and been successful or not.

They didn't ask me which carrier my phone came from. I bought from Visible last year so an MVNO and not even on their list. Trade in went fine.

I trade in a cricket. I chose att for the order. BB does not care it as long as the screen is fine.
