Just about every website is offering up to $1000 for iPhone 13. However, here is a strategy that is an inexpensive solution to get an $800 trade in credit.

https://www.bestbuy.com/site/cond...1804983518

Go to eBay to find an unlocked S9. Most S9's are going for $90-$140. Use this phone as a trade in. Be sure and check the description for the condition of the S9 phones. If the phones are cracked or have spots you won't receive the full $800 promo credit.

https://www.ebay.com/sch/i.html?_...9&_sacat=0

Also you will need to have the Play More, Do More or Get More Unlimited plans. Great deal for such a great strategy. All together you should net around $650-$700 for trading in an S9.

I want to get one of those for a family member but it's risky on eBay since most are cracked and have screen burn in issues.

He has an iPhone XS in excellent condition

Not sure if I should take the chance with a phone from eBay but I also don't wNt him to miss out on the deal
What about swappa? On ebay, the s9 in very good condition shouldn't have those problems and you could always confirm with the seller.

iv never traded in my phone for a new one. currently have note 9 . how does this exactly work if someone can tldr.
If you order online, you select the phone you want along with the phone you want to trade-in. Checkout as normal, you pay full tax on the phone and upgrade/activation fee. Verizon sends you your new phone (or do in-store pick-up if you want), and they also send you a box and shipping label with instructions on how to send in your trade-in phone. You have 30 days to send in your phone in order to get credit for the trade-in.

I did this last year for the iPhone 12, I traded in my old iPhone XR. Pretty crazy that they are still giving $800 for this phone 1 year later.

So I'm trying to order a pro max for a family member and for some reason online it asks to verify my account and they send a text. I click to send a text but the text never gets sent to the line we are trying to upgrade.

SO I start to chat with a rep and he is trying to push that device protection hard

Basically Verizon is offering the trade-in promotion both on their website and through Best Buy (and probably other retailers). Technically your trade-in to Best Buy actually happens through Verizon - if you click through "Pre-Order" on Best Buy website, you get to the screen that says "Complete your purchase on BestBuy.com, then trade in your phone directly with Verizon."

Basically you buy your phone from Best Buy, then trade-in through Verizon. I personally don't like dealing with other retailers (Best Buy, Walmart, Target, etc.) because they usually don't know wtf they are doing, and I don't want them messing around with my Verizon account.

It might have been sent another phone # on your account, possibly the account owner's phone # or the original phone # that you first opened your account with.

Sucks, this is the only line on the account and was never changed.
I did get the rate plan changed a few hours ago and I am hoping that is the issue

Now here is another issue.
I am chatting with the rep so he can finish the transaction since I was not getting the text. He sent me a text and I got it.
But now he says:
Now, I will be sending you the legally required disclosures associated with your order today. You'll also get a copy of these disclosures in your confirmation email once the order is placed. Please note that any applicable promotional pricing will not be displayed in the terms and conditions.

I'm not sure how I feel about that since the trade in is worth $800 over 24 months.

I am trying the trade in ahead of ordering and it is offering me a paltry amount (80 bucks or so). What am I doing incorrectly to get the 800 dollar credit?

If you read the Disclosure at the bottom of the page linked by the OP. It states:

"Trade-in phone must be unlocked, deactivated and all personal data deleted before trade-in. If you have an iPhone, you must turn off Find My iPhone. Most trade-in conditions are accepted except: damaged battery (hot, swollen, leaking), unidentifiable device model, activation lock turned on, or if device is on lost/stolen list."

Are you talking to Best Buy rep or Verizon Rep? I usually only deal with Verizon directly when it comes to these things, because these other retailers usually don't know wtf they are doing.
