No. The version in the PS Plus collection is the vanilla version of the game. Royal is the enhanced version with 20 hours of new gameplay, several quality of life changes, a new ending, new characters, DLC from the vanilla game, and more.

Nope. Just the regular version of Persona 5. This adds a new character, story and semester. It adds about 20 more hours. It's a big upgrade.

Wrong. It's a almost a whole new game with a ton of new content. No even the save games from the original persona works on Royal. For those who are going to commit to spend 100-150 hours with a game, definitely with paying 25 bucks to play the better version.
If you play the vanilla abd like it, you regret not playing royal after spending a hundred hours and get the true ending.

What makes you just start out with "Wrong." like a child? It was a genuine question.

One hell of a game, if you are interested in playing P5 then you definitely want the Royale version, the little improvements they did make a huge difference. I just spent 220 hours on this bad boy, definitely ready to play some nice short games for a while now haha.

Never played a Persona game before, but for 100+ hours I'm in. I've always wanted to try them. Will I be ok starting with this storywise, are the games all separated. Or will I be lost and need to start at the first game?

Each Persona game is a standalone game. The stories from the previous games aren't related to each other. This was my first ever Persona and I loved it.

P5 Royal is actually a great starting point even if you've never heard of these games before. It does help if you're familiar with Japanese-themed games in general as there are a lot of content / actions / scenes that are almost universal in JRPGs you don't see anywhere else. So you may or may not find that engaging to start with. But again, this is a good way to start.

I had done earlier Persona games before but on things like Nintendo DS or PSP and PS Vita, so doing it in a "modern" game on a big screen on PS4 was definitely much more pleasurable and immersive for me. And I did get much more into it, though still not completed as "life" keeps getting in the way of gaming time. But it's very high on my list of "gotta get back to that one." Since I had done earlier Persona games, I was a bit familiar with some of the concepts, and so some things weren't as "strange" to me. One thing that is common to all the Persona games is the influence of Tarot-card themes into the entities you adopt. I was like "what are all these things?" "what does it even mean?" You'll get used to it after a while and don't worry if it seems totally odd at first. I did just findthis article [fandom.com] that now I will study more myself, because it explains the Tarot card influence which you see in all the Persona games.

Just buy this game. I had my doubts and my only games before were SMT but I decided to bite the bullet and get in the hype and am not disappointed. About to finish the "base" version of the game and going to start the "new semester" with nearly 150 hrs already clocked.

The music is phenomenal and will change your mood instantly.

You may want to check BS first if you're willing to venture into a Walmart. One of my local Walmarts had this for $20 in store two weeks ago.

Yeah. It was stupid on his part. You didn't tell everyone that this is free on PS+. You asked if it was, because it's a simple misunderstanding.
