I called to ask about this since I was curious about the usual MusiciansFriend caveats around new vs. floor model items. They said that this guitar (despite being part of the Warehouse Clearance Sale) will only be sourced from stores, as they now have none in the warehouse.

So, you might get lucky, or you might get something a bit beat up.

Spending 880 on a guitar made in Indonesia is silly. You could get a mint gibson Les Paul studio for the same price any day of the week on Craigslist. You get an American made guitar that will play and sound better. And a Les paul will hold it's value if you decide to sell

Maybe to you they play and sound better; to others, Indonesian made instruments sound and play better. Quality control on Gibson is atrocious and last I checked American made anything isn't better worldwide, sometime long ago, maybe; not so much meow.

For $800 from Indonesia Ibanez can probably afford excellent quality control. Its the price point they build to more so than the country of origin that matters much for how good a guitar really is these days.

My best playing guitar came with cruddy ceramic pickups and cost $170.. made in Indonesia.
I have an American Gibson SG Special with mini humbuckers I got new from a deal here and even after sending it to the luthier for $150 it still doesn't play as well as the cheapo bolt on les paul I got..

They're just hunks of wood. I ended up having my uncle put some cheap alnico pickups in the bolt on epiphone les paul and I play on it all the time.

I get what you are saying.. personally I wont buy guitars without playing them in person anymore.. would rather just find one I like irl before buying any more.

Some of the Gibson tribute and special models are bad, but I've never played a bad Les Paul studio. I just don't see the logic in spending a grand on a purple guitar made is Indonesia without playing it first. Maybe if you were in a band of circus clowns and you do metal covers of Barney the purple dinosaur it would make sense?

I bought a brand new Indonesian made Jackson Pro model from reverb last year for 550 thinking it was a great deal. The fret ends were sharp and the pickups were shrill. The Japanese Jackson pro model that I owned was light years nicer than the Indonesian version. That's a fact.
