It is not compact at all. It handles a very heavy camera with no issues - Nokia D7500 with telephoto lent - it is 15 inches long.

I love my (older) Gorillapod, but this model may be overkill for your needs, if you don't need the extra attachments.

The GorillaPod 3k [amazon.com] is $48 and can support 3kg (6.6lbs). Your a7iii is 1.43 lbs plus whatever your heaviest lens weighs.

Also you'd have to see how tall you want it. Of course this is designed for gripping onto something tall, or sitting on a table, as the 'pod itself doesn't give you much height.

It supports up to 5 kilograms of weight. Hence their naming scheme.

That's roughly 11 pounds for those that don't wanna math.

will it support 6 lb when it's not "balanced"? like if i want the camera to point all the way up?

Probably not, unless the legs are really wrapped tightly around something.

Thanks, physics.
