Tried to sell a ps4 pro on the popular auction site and i went through 4 or so relistings only to sell for something like 250 shipped. They also took their their cut and.... yeah this doesn't seem like a bad deal at all. Wish I had not gone the auction route tbh.
At the store they told me 5+ years. So hopefully I'll be able to land a PS5 by then!
Traded my X, S and pro for $715 credit over the weekend when I saw the trade in go up. Great deal!

Totally lucked out on this. Saw that there was a bump in Xbox One trade in values last week and decided it was time. Finally took them in today and got $215 store credit for my Xbox One S 1TB and $325 for my Xbox One X. Didn't know why I was getting more than was posted on their website and didn't care.
So if I do get the credit, how's the situation with getting a Playstation 5 at Gamestop?
Obviously, I will have to follow up and see when they get restocks, but they are forcing bundles? in-store or just online?
And the Gamestop credit, can that be used for an online purchase?
Buying gamestop pro subscription for the trade in is a no brainer. From what I've seen back when searching ps5s, gamestop's restocks always had availability for longer periods for their pro subscription members compared to other stores and their normal non-pro stock.
Why are people selling the 4 Pro? Aren't these in high demand due to PS5 shortages?
They are in demand, I guess, just from seeing what Gamestop is buying them for. I can't speak for anyone else, but with as good as backward compability is now for both the Xbox Series X and PS5, unless you are actively playing the Pro or Xbox One X, you could be basically getting what you paid for it and not miss anything.
I'm selling my PS4 Pro, but obviously keeping all of my digital games on my account. When I get a PS5, I'll get all those games back.
The only exception is that I lose the SIlent Hill PT demo.
A lot of people like the nostalgic factor of keeping consoles, but for me I don't see the point...not at being able to get 90-95% of what I paid for it 3 years ago.
Since buying an Xbox Series X in March, I've not touched my PS4 PRO, and I played it everyday before that.
So not to start a console war or anything. But I have wanted to hear from someone who has a PS5. What is the backward compatibility to PS4? Do most of your PS4 games work, half? I just want to know before I sell off all my older hardware to help finance a new purchase.

Arghhh! I traded in my Xbox One X and 5 controllers last week for $380. Now there's an extra $50 credit on the Xbox and an extra 50% on the accessories. That's $50 left behind on the Xbox One X and $60 left behind on the controllers! Would have gotten about $500 which would have paid for the PS5 I bought last week also! Oh well, was still a slick deal.
The PS5 shortage is ridiculous. I just made my third PS5 purchase on Ebay, and all three times I got ripped off. Luckily EBay has rebated me time, but really....when is a store going to have them? I can't even successfully get gouged for the price ($750-ish) on EBay without getting ripped off with disappearing sellers.
Damn. Just find a twitter account that follows restocks at major retailers. I've scored 4 PS5s via Walmart (x2) and the Sony Direct queue (x2, two addresses), and yes, all went to my family/gamer friends. Read up and then jump in. It's really not that hard if you put in the effort beforehand to figure it all out.
Yes it sucks, but better than going to ebay/scalper route.

Where do you find the extra $50 credit thing for Xbox?

That's the problem. It's not advertised online. We only knew because some people started to report success starting last weekend. I wonder if the switch is getting an increased value too but as of now only the PS4 pro and xbox series x are the ones confirmed to have 50 dollars on top of the advertised trade in value.
Awesome deal… just got $800 for about 10 old controllers, project scorpio 1tb, a switch dock, and about 15 older games. Bought a series-s and an ocolus rift 128gb to throw under the tree… have $200 left over in gift card credit
The $5 monthly certificate - does it expire? i.e. will I have $60 at the end of the year?
Also, for anyone waiting until the last minute like me but still thinking about doing this, definitely reformat your PS4 ahead of time. Mine took at least 2 hours to initialize.

You need to use the $5 each month. It won't stack if unused. I usually just buy $10 PSN cards.

99% of PS4 games are backwards compatible with the PS5. I think there are less than 10 games that won't work.
