Newegg through ebay has the 2tb 970 evo plus ssd for $229.99. For some reason it's another case of them not having it that low on their website.... Free shipping.
Oops. I always forget things in titles... Didn't even put Samsung in it. lol.
Anyway so this is $230 and on the newegg site with code the 2tb sn750 is $240 I think. Seems like someone said he was getting better random writes on the wd, but oh well I already bought ebay gcs to buy this one and I also have a 980 pro.
I have two of these 2tb plus drives and its a hit and miss with performance, one performs at rated speed, the other everything is the same except for the Seq write which peaks at ~2400. I'm not too bothered to RMA, would have to reload everything. I have read that Samsung's reliability is dropping so I will most likely move to another brand, potentially go to a Gen4as well when prices drops.
Still waiting to replace my 1TB NVMe SSD I bought three years ago for $69. Samsung, SK Hynix and Micron stop colluding to milk the consumer at 1-2TB kkthx. We are ready to be cheated at 8-32TB.
Everyone has been brainwashed to eat these high price because xyz reasons. It's easier and cheaper to print ssd NAND memory than make a hard drive yet you don't see those staying stationary at 1-2TB for the past 3 years.
Isn't this one of the drives that has been silently downgraded after release?
edit: derp. A few posts too slow.
yes, but whether it is "downgrade" is debatable.
while it is true the speed get reduced after the SLC cache is full, which is pretty huge at 78 GB for this model. but the speed before it hit SLC limit are improved across the board.
and people seem to be forget how hot the old 970 evo plus runs at (i have it) and would constantly throttle itself if you don't have a proper heat sink attached.
i don't like samsung change parts without changing part numbers, but generally speaking, the new 970 evo plus is an upgrade than a downgrade.

You might want to double check you have the same revision... the older revision is actually faster due to using faster DRAM
