$240 is the best price in a long time, great shuckable drives. I'm hoping we see the same or better $/TB in other sizes soon, especially with Black Friday only two months away.
Holding on until we see these at sub-$200 levels again.
This year should have seen this drive under $200 in the 16TB capacity at Black Friday, but not holding my breath for that. I'd say that's at least a year until chip shortages, supply chain issues, and manufacturers looking to keep prices artificially high to make up for lost profits finally bring these drives back to where they should be.

I don't know if these things are any different than the ones that used to be in the $130-$160 sale range price within the last few years... I guess these have gone up due to chip shortages etc?
Should we be expecting any better deals on 14tb+ drives in the near (3-4 month) future? Any thoughts? I need one but in no rush.
We are now heading for BF... and the best price was 1 month before BF around October.
I believe it starts coming down.. We can get a better one around $200 with better storage space.

Garbage chia coin will drop down the price of hard drives from now on.
I believe chia coin is just a sh*t that is created for benefiting hard disk manufacturers.

Yes, the last two that I bought had a WD140EMFZ inside. It is a white label helium-filled 5400 RPM drive.
Read on Arstechnica that supposedly these 14TB drives are actually 7200rpm. That Western Digital on their specs even say 5400rpm performance, hinting towards that they spin at 7200 but are quiet like an 5400rpm and data rates are also towards 5400rpm performance. The main point being that if someone is looking for a 5400rpm drive for their lower power consumption to look elsewhere as these consume the same power that 7200 drives do per the specs.

I think its not that much of a difference power consumption wise, but I would be more concerned about its life span

If they are actually 7200 RPM, the SMART data is incorrect. They report themselves as 5400. Regarding power consumption, I have measured them unshucked at the wall adapter at about 5-6 watts spinning but not accessing data. On the other hand, my 8tb seagate 5400 RPM drive measure 4 watts in the same test.

Thanks for the info. Just out of curiosity, not an expert on hard drives at all, but SMART will just report whatever the HD Firmware sends out right? It doesn't actually measure the drive speed right? Or does it? (asking legit out of curiosity).
