The Ergo 4000 has been my go-to for seven years. I had telepathic command of all of its keys. However, when I "upgraded" to the newer ergonomic keyboard, I didnt have this command anymore. It is hard to explain...the key travel is a bit more shallow, and the taper of the keys from the top of the keyboard to the bottom is smoother and less punctuated. Imagine stairsteps which have a larger height difference between each step vs a ramp. I prefer the former. I ended up returning the newer KB and am still using the 4000. It isnt technically broken, but it is *very* worn out.
Ironically, the MS sculpt has even less key travel, but yet I adapted to it well, but not so with the new ergo. However, the sculpt doesnt have a number pad, which is a huge no-no for my work. So I ended up returning it as well.
Tl;dr - go try the new one out and form your own opinion. Comfort is very subjective.

I don't need it to look like a RGB Xmas tree like some of the gaming keyboards... but it's be SO nice to have an ergo kb, say like a Natural 1000, that lights up in low light...
edit: I guess they did stop producing the 4000 ones, which I liked the best. As long as the split key shape is the same though I'm good with this for $30. And honestly I don't get the buzz about mechanical keyboards. I get plenty of feedback from plastic keys and not having to press as far saves more wear and tear on my fingers. These particular ones have a soft plastic I like. I don't like noisy keys.
I can't believe they stopped making the 4000s. I wish I bought 10 of them.

I've been using the Microsoft Ergonomic Natural Elite keyboard for almost 22 years.

The only thing that kills my desire to want to use this is how accustomed my hands have become to reaching a certain distance for the function keys as well as the layout of the arrows and the "home/end" block.
I have no need for the multimedia/app keys at the top of the featured device.
I wouldn't mind getting a brand new, identical keyboard if it had the same layout for the same price.
