No its dotdot for atmos. The ear level channels and height channels are interchangable, but the subwooofer ones are not. So 7.2 is seven channels (either ear level or height) and 2 subwoofer channels (really its just 1 split..but its marketing to call it .2). So this receiver can do 5.2.2 or 7.2.0. it cannot support 5.1.4 or 7.1.4 (5.1.4 would require a 9.1 receiver, and 7.1.4 would be an 11.1 channel receiver...those exist..but not in this price range).
Damn. I bought my 750h 5 months ago. I cooooould return it. But that's kind of a dick move for a perfectly working item
That's not how it works. People act like they're suddenly entitled to some to something when they pay the tiny annual fee (are you really of the mindset that the pitiful $60 actually covers the loss here?). Do you also act like you can intentionally wreck your cars because you pay for insurance?

If his device had broken 5 months ago and he returned it, that's one thing. But, to go and return it because there's suddenly a different device? "Come on, man." It's literally the reason why they changed the unlimited return policy to 90 days for electronics, because people were grossly taking advantage of it.

Is this the 90s? Who uses receivers anymore? There is no way to have a clean look in a room with these.
It seems you are the one in 90s!! You should really look at some of the 'cleanest' setups people have in the avs forum.. with multiple receivers and uhd players!

Does it make a difference? It surely does! Sooner than later, such return privileges will be lifted off (or changed) by the stores. They will make them stricter or reduce the return periods. This is what happens if everybody starts abusing the generous return policies that we currently have - for no real reason. We should never abuse privileges or take things for granted - these are bad moves!
I agree with you, but we SD'ers also take advantage of pricing screwups and chat hookups, which also results in a stores loss, These mixups may affect future sales and offers. I never believed that stores could maintain generous return policies, we currently live in a world that's no longer pro consumer, but more bottom line. There are not that many places where you can haggle for a lower price, even some pawn shops turn their noses up when you try to get a better deal. Sometimes you just gotta keep it to yourself and put it in your little black "I got the hook up\got away with it" book. and keep it moving.

The bottom line matters for a lot of retailers now... everything is mostly driven by volume now, and people do not pay a price premium for most items.
Items like electronics do not have huge markup as they used to, they are now significantly competitively priced.
How do I know I used to work commission sales way back in the days when Circuit City existed. The price between cost, commission, sale, and MSRP was staggering... A store could take several hundreds off an item, pay a commission and still make great profit... highly doubt they can do that nowadays.

Cost of electronics have come down significantly especially compared to inflation and the value of today's dollar versus yesteryears'.
So yes retailers have become less pro-consumer (which IMO is needed to maintain a competitive price). And abusing any remaining consumer benefits, just increases the chance of those disappearing in the future.

Thinking of upgrading from my 8 yr old Sony STR-DN1060. It is still going strong. It has ARC but no eARC. I have a 5.1 setup. I'm buying a new LG C1.

Do I need eARC for 5.1, or will ARC do? I'm a bit confused by this. Thinking I'll just connect all my devices to the TV and just connect the receiver via ARC (including Series X, PS5, NVidia Shield). I know I will lose DTS but other than that, is there any reason to upgrade?

Also, technically this will be a power downgrade (from 100W to 75W) if I move to this receiver. Not sure if it makes a huge difference but wondering if I should wait for 100W models.

Can "Surround Back" speaker outputs be used/assigned as a "Speaker B" output? I have a 5.1 setup in the TV room, and have a couple of tower speakers in the lounge. The house was wired with speaker cables from TV area to the lounge. My current ancient Denon AVR-1802 as the Speaker B selector and outputs. Just want to have music play in both rooms from time to time from a single source. I have tried to follow along prior questions/comments but I don't understand all the terminology. Cheers.

Awesome! Glad it worked, and glad that this receiver continues looking like a silver bullet. Now somebody have pity on or gratitude for your OP here and sell me an Xbox Series X for $500! Haha cheers all.
Following up on last night's ordeal with the 4k120hz setting,

Everything is working, full 4k120hz with dolby atmos enabled by going in to the Denon settings and turning on the setting mentioned above.

HOWEVER, VRR/Freesync is now no longer an option within my gpu settings. Totally greyed out. When I swap Denon settings back to standard, VRR/Freesync is re-enabled, but I'm limited to 4k60hz.

I will go with my original plan of ordering two brand new, certified, exact same length cables to retry. They won't be in until Monday, but I'll update.

Curious if anyone else can verify true 4k120hz setting WITH freesync enabled?

Cost of electronics has come down significantly? No. Most flagship phones these days are priced over $1000. That wasn't the case a few years ago. A Zfold3 costs $1700.

While the phones probably cost very little to make, companies claim they spent $$$$$ on R&D to design the phone. There may or may not be some truth to this. I do think any phone over $400 is overpriced. Folks paying $1K+ for a phone are insane! Smilie

Called my local Costco. They have 19 in stock in 99212. Going to pick one up and see if I can get it to play ball with my 5.1 Vizio setup and PS5 and Xbox X. I've never owned a receiver before, so hopefully I figure out what I'm doing.
Wasn't that only in games with headphones on?

Just picked one up at our local Costco, Fairfield had a full pallet and so did Vacaville. I also ordered the klipsch reference theater pack 5.1 from newegg. They have it on sale for $289 but it looks like they raised the price over night to $339. This may replace the Vizio SB46514-F6 soundbar I bought from Costco.com a couple of months ago. I've got a pair of existing 20yr old Paradigm in-ceiling speakers to utilize the 5.1.2 setup once the klipsch arrives. The Vizio soundbar is not bad being 5.1.4 and is plenty loud for my space (30x30) family rm. Let's see who will stay once it's all setup. I'm guessing the Denon setup since the speakers are truly separated 🤔

I did the same thing like you. Bought the Klipsch 5.1 speakers for $289 on Wednesday, and went to local Costco to pick up a 760. I also have 4 celling spears so hopefully they can be a nice 7.1 set up. Should I use 4 celling speakers with 3 Klipsch speakers or 2 celling speakers with 5 Klipsch speakers?
