No its dotdot for atmos. The ear level channels and height channels are interchangable, but the subwooofer ones are not. So 7.2 is seven channels (either ear level or height) and 2 subwoofer channels (really its just 1 split..but its marketing to call it .2). So this receiver can do 5.2.2 or 7.2.0. it cannot support 5.1.4 or 7.1.4 (5.1.4 would require a 9.1 receiver, and 7.1.4 would be an 11.1 channel receiver...those exist..but not in this price range).
Damn. I bought my 750h 5 months ago. I cooooould return it. But that's kind of a dick move for a perfectly working item
That's not how it works. People act like they're suddenly entitled to some to something when they pay the tiny annual fee (are you really of the mindset that the pitiful $60 actually covers the loss here?). Do you also act like you can intentionally wreck your cars because you pay for insurance?

If his device had broken 5 months ago and he returned it, that's one thing. But, to go and return it because there's suddenly a different device? "Come on, man." It's literally the reason why they changed the unlimited return policy to 90 days for electronics, because people were grossly taking advantage of it.

I absolutely hate having to return the Yamaha. It's all wired up and I personally like the look of it. But the HDMI issue is annoying as heck and I haven't seen any updates. Anyone know anything else about the update?
I'm in the same boat. I don't want the hassle of setting up a new receiver. I also don't want Costco to pay for Yamaha's f-up, but it sucks having a defective device with virtually no follow-up communication about how they're going to make it right.

If I understand correctly, 7.2 only has two channels for sounds above and 9.2 has 4. Don't most people want sounds from above to move left to right and front to back? Having only 2 channels from above seems undesirable and unrealistic, no? Fry's used to have killer deals on Denon 9.2 receivers. So bummed they shut down…
I remember when A3D on the computer needed only two speakers to do 3D sound. I haven't experienced that level of 3D audio ever since, even in AMC Dolby Atmos equipped auditoriums.

Called my local Costco. They have 19 in stock in 99212. Going to pick one up and see if I can get it to play ball with my 5.1 Vizio setup and PS5 and Xbox X. I've never owned a receiver before, so hopefully I figure out what I'm doing.

Just purchased at Columbia,SC location for $469 out the door with tax. I will setup a 5.2.2 system. Eager to see if the 4k @120hz is working with my Sony 85X90H. If it does, I won't bother with the X3700h or the Onkyo RZ50 whenever it's back in stock. My mancave is a small room, so hopefully the receiver with my polk vanishing speaker system and two klipsch Wireless subs can do the job.

Why can't I find this receiver model anywhere online? It's not even on Denon's website
For wholesale clubs, manufacturers many times change the model numbers of the TVs and other electronics even just very slightly because big box retailers look bad to their customers when the item is 50, 100 , 200 or more cheaper at the wholesale club. Been like this for 20 years plus.

Gets the retailers out of price match situations and loosing business.

Just be cautious and verify the TV or whatever is exactly the same features/ specifications.

When I worked for Sam's Club many moons ago they would get a prodict with some features removed or manufacturer replace components with cheaper materials.

So lost here. You have a sound bar. A receiver is to hook up individual non powered speakers. Not sure how you would 3ven get the Denon to send a signal to your sound bar. A very expensive HDMI switch box is all you might possibly get out of this.

Costco already sells the 750h. The 760 is not a Costco only model it's just the 2021 revision of the 750. 740 and 730 are just even older u it's of the same line

Sorry if this is a silly question, but will this unit do 5.1.2?
Yes it will.

Bought the s750h in may… I have packaging and everything. Think they'll do an exchange? I've got LG CX so theoretically I would benefit from this upgrade. (120 hz)

Feels like the majority purchasing this are Yamaha TSR-700 owners, myself included. I'm fed up with all of the input switching bugs and black screens on the TSR-700 almost a year later. I'm hoping Yamaha does come through and fixes it, but it will be a backup receiver at best.

As soon as I saw this surprise thread, I went down to Costco and they had about 12 s-760s left. Walked out with one.

Many thanks for posting!

Costco usually does not cause much fuss u less it's a tv or computer. You will gain the benefit of hooking a ps5 Xbox up to the AVR instead of going to the TV first. Side note the CX can't read or pass a DTS signal, so that is a benefit even if you don't have a newer console. Another benefit would be hdr10+ passthrough that the 750h cannot. In short it will allow you to plug current and future devices to your AVR directly without connecting them directly to the CX.

Yes, they don't care if you have the box, remote, paperwork, etc. in my experience.
Not sure why you got downvoted. This is correct. Costco don't care if you bring the item in a shopping bag without any of the original packaging. However, as always, best to call and confirm specially for receivers. I did it for a robot vacuum.

I currently have 3 devices connected to my C1 directly, 2 using a hdmi switcher, and a Vizio Elevate via the eARC. I plan on getting a starter HT setup (Costco klipsch atmos bundle!) in future. Would I be getting any benefit with this AVR now or it is better to wait till I actually get the speakers?

Thanks

Also no analog out other then the two subwoofer outputs, I need AO to send signal to multichannel amplifier to power 3 other zones.

I got downvoted because people assume I am advocating abusing the return policy. I wasn't at all, but if someone asks a direct question, I'm going to provide a direct and honest answer. Should you return a 2 year old receiver in good working order that has served you well for a full refund to get the new model for the same or less money (even if you don't have the original box or accessories)? Absolutely not. Can you? Yes, you can.
